Feeling so depressed at moment with my dd10 who has ASD everything is a constant battle, bedtimes, mornings and everything in between ! Everything I request is met with a defiant no.

Thinking Of going to GP to get anti depressants as also low after death of my mum. Is this a really bad idea ??

It’s important to think about the factors affecting your low mood and be realistic about the impact medication is likely to have. You will still be bereaved. You will still have a disabled and difficult child. Antidepressants can’t change either of those things or make them easier to deal with.

But there’s nothing “bad idea” about speaking with your GP and seeing what they recommend, and whether they’d prescribe something, or signpost to other practical support.

No, of course it isn’t a bad idea. You’re having an incredibly tough time and it helps you get through it, then it can only be a good thing.
