To think Jeremy Hunt as Chancellor is good

I mean how bad has it got that Jeremy appears rational, decent and competent. I never imagined in all my years that I'd be pleased he had been given an important job, but now he seems acceptable.
How has the situation in politics become so dire that JH seems like a good choice?

they should fit revolving doors to both number 10 and 11 Downing street. Cant see Liz surviving much longer. They probably haven't even finished unpacking yet !
Let's hope we get a General election soon .

MarshaBradyo · 14/10/2022 14:37

Yeah no from me not after pandemic stuff

Maggiethecat · 14/10/2022 14:38

Why the fuck does she keep saying she’s acted decisively?!!

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 14/10/2022 14:41

HailHail · 14/10/2022 14:36

Yeah he's proper salt o' the earth is Jeremy . No he's not actually ,he is a self serving , cowardly ,devious nasty c*nt.

Completely agree, and yet I still seem to find him better than the alternatives.

General election now.

I wonder who'll be the next person to throw a 6 and get to be chancellor.....that is how they're being chosen now right??

StoneofDestiny · 14/10/2022 14:47

We need a General Election

vivainsomnia · 14/10/2022 14:48

After everything that he did for the NHS I’m sure it’s a really good decision…. Oh
This. His stupid decisions started the NGS crisis. Totally inept and the way he avoided any responsibility for his failures was worse than any Tories. Please no!

Arenanewbie · 14/10/2022 14:50

Just out of interest, does Jeremy Cun..., sorry, Hunt have any economics background at all?
Oxford PPE, he’s got first degree Bachelor of Art. DH told this and it accidentally came out as a “Bachelor of Fart” which probably much closer to the truth.

No other obvious links to working with money. Bugger. We may be dooooooooomed.

Three failed startups.

Faciadipasta · 14/10/2022 14:55

Well The Times had a list of potential candidates earlier today and they had Jacob Rees Mogg at number 5 (or could even have been 4) so on that basis I'm relieved that it's only JH.

Bogofftosomewherehot · 14/10/2022 14:55

NHS
NHS
NHS!!!!!

need I say more?

theydontspeakforus · 14/10/2022 14:58

It's like when Christina of Denmark said she would marry Henry VIII if she had a spare head to lose, so he moved on.

Urgh.

AntlerRose · 14/10/2022 15:00

I think it might reassure 'the markets". He is one of the few with ministerial experience from before boris's purge. He was a remainer too.
His nhs days were crap but he was ok as foreign secretary and is more statesman like than some.

Also if selling if the nhs is the next step to balance the books, he has thought about it a lot!

onlyconnect · 14/10/2022 15:03

MrsRobinsonsHandprints your op expresses my thoughts exactly

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 14/10/2022 15:05

Hunt the cunt? Really?

worriedatthistime · 14/10/2022 15:07

I bet Boris is chuckling

worriedatthistime · 14/10/2022 15:08

You can't have a general election when there is at present no real credible alternative either
The other parties need to start telling us what they will do and how at present I won't vote for any of them and rather stay home

This ^^

newnamethanks · 14/10/2022 15:14

I recall reading on MN that he was known to his staff at DoH as 'Mr Hunt. With a C'. Heigh ho.

Dear, Oh Dear.

🤦‍♀️

Absolutely!

MintJulia · 14/10/2022 15:23

God help us !

I used to vote Tory but even I want a general election now.

LexMitior · 14/10/2022 15:29

@worriedatthistime - that is not going to matter. Unless the Tory party get rid of Truss, they will just be tainted with incompetence until the next election. The press just love this story too much.

If this kind of lead is sustained for Labour a dog wearing a red ribbon is going to win. Tory MPs know they have big problem.

KirstenBlest · 14/10/2022 15:31

He's going to be worse than Kwarteng if his leadership contest is anything to go by.
I thought that his first name was Jeremic.

dworky · 14/10/2022 15:34

Your memory is very short.

CatchYouOnTheFlippetyFlop · 14/10/2022 15:34

Appears as this to who?

To use the MN favourite - 'are you on glue?'
