It seems to me there are a lot of people who value dogs higher than they do people and treat them better ?

Do you agree ? Do you do this ?

@AnApparitionQuipped "It might be that by leaving them to die, you were alleviating suffering for many - if the person happened to be, say, a trafficker or a drugs baron or a sex offender or a perpetrator any of the different ways in which humans can cause suffering to one another."

I think this sums it up, some people see the worst in everything and everyone around them, and some people see the best. Why would you assume a random stranger is a trafficker, sex offender or perpetrator?

KarmaStar · 14/10/2022 12:12

Yes and yes.🐕💗🐶🐕🐶🐕💗🐾🐾

I like my dogs more than strangers, I know my dogs I don't know Jeff at the park, he could be a right bastard for all I know. I don't really see a comparison between how I treat the dogs and treat 'people'. I mean it depends on the people. I'm don't treat anyone badly, I'm always polite blah blah but I'd give a piece of chicken to the dogs sooner than I'd give a piece of chicken to a stranger.

This made me a laugh (in a good way).

I'd definitely give my dogs the chicken not Jeff the bastard.

AnApparitionQuipped · 14/10/2022 12:16

Why would you assume they were not? That's it - with humans, you don't know. With animals, you can be sure they are not.

Surely you can only mean the people you know, you don't seriously think that there are any nice people in the 7 billion on the planet do you?

I find it hard to believe that everyone is real when I read things like this

Do you have children ?

Dogs saved me from suicide.
People made me suicidal.

Is that sufficient enough of an answer for you?

Do you ask the commenters saying they HATE dogs what has made them have such a strong reaction againts them?

Get real!

Dailymash · 14/10/2022 12:26

Some fairly terrifying views on here, save a dog over a human? What if that human was a child? A baby? People would honestly save their pet over a baby? 😱

countrygirl99 · 14/10/2022 12:28

I'd save most people over a dog but I'd save a strangers dog over my vile next door neighbour.

Dailymash · 14/10/2022 12:30

Out of curiosity, do the ‘animals over humans’ nutters eat meat? That cow/pig/chicken/fish could have been someone’s beloved pet if it hadn’t been farmed and slaughtered.

It couldn't though, could it, because it's been bred for food.

You can't really compare your pet dog who you live with to a random cow in a field.

You don't know the cow.

🐄

Dailymash · 14/10/2022 12:35

And to the ‘animals over humans’ nutters, if your house was on fire would you be happy if Fireman Sam saved your mutt and left your unconscious body to be incinerated?

LaurieFairyCake · 14/10/2022 12:36

Oh god who cares about babies Hmm

I might save a hamster over a baby not really Grin

Dh and I both agreed we'd save the dogs over each other as we can both swim but one of our dogs can't

Dailymash · 14/10/2022 12:36

But both have been specifically bred for human pleasure. Cow in field to eat, dog in house to prioritise over people.

Pixiedust1234 · 14/10/2022 12:38

I like ALL animals more than people. I also treat them better because most people can look after themselves. We have lost 70% of animal life since the 1970s. People can go to hell.

I'd rather they saved my cats than me. My cats lead a happier life than I do, and my sister would look after them for me. My house burning down and the loss of my cats would be too much for me to cope with, it would finish me off even if I was rescued.

That's true but you are more likely to get attached to the one that is going to be a companion for 15 years that the one you are going to eat on your Sunday roast.

Highschoolprobs · 14/10/2022 12:42

I wonder if all the people who value a cat or dog's life over a human's are all vegetarians? Not goady- genuine question? And are your pets vegetarians? And if not how does your brain allow you to differentiate between animals?

XenoBitch · 14/10/2022 12:44

I love my dog. I provide her with a home, food, toys and comfort. If she needs the vets, I sort that too.

How is that treating her better than people?

Odd question OP.

LaDamaDeElche · 14/10/2022 12:44

I like animals in general more than humans, but I
wouldn't say I love my pets more than my immediate family, probably on par with my closest friends though.

Same way I differentiate which humans I care about and which I don't.

MissingNashville · 14/10/2022 12:45

Apart from my close circle of family/friends, I find humans on the whole quite disappointing. Dogs are just better Ime. I’d save dogs over any adults that aren’t in my close circle. Being honest, I’m likely to be disappointed with the adult I saved. Kids, that would be harder. They’re children so they’re innocent, but likely to grow up into someone I don’t like anywhere near as much as dogs. I’d probably save dogs. As I’m unlikely to have to make the choice, I won’t worry about it.

I love animals. No, I don’t eat them.

Bonjovispjs · 14/10/2022 12:46

I prefer all animals to people, guess I'm just not a people person 🤷🏻‍♀️

LaDamaDeElche · 14/10/2022 12:47

If I had to make the choice between saving my pet or a stranger, of course I'd save my pet, unless it was a baby or a child in danger, then of
course, I'd save them first.

OneTC · 14/10/2022 12:48

I am confident in Dcats ability to save himself and by my count he's still got several of his 9 lives left, so I'd save the stranger.

Highschoolprobs · 14/10/2022 12:48

JOFFCV · 14/10/2022 12:44

Same way I differentiate which humans I care about and which I don't.

But surely you dont kill and eat the humans you don't care about? But you can the animals you don't care about. So you must value human life more than animal?
