To consider paid help?

I wasn’t sure where to post this!
I’m due a baby anytime in next 2-4 weeks (depending on when they decide to arrive!) and I’m wondering about getting some extra help for afterwards.

We have no family nearby to help (or that would even consider trying to help!) and we have two dogs both high energy and young (ones only 6 months old) and my husband works away some weeks and late shifts some weeks too, there’s no set pattern.

I’m wondering whether to use some of my maternity pay and savings to get a nanny for a short while &/or dog walkers? Or too indulgent and waste of savings? I had postnatal depression last time really badly and also worried about this and wondering if some help might be beneficial for my mental health too!

… So has anyone had a nanny for a newborn or walkers for dogs? Can you tell me what you found the most helpful for the first few months as I cannot remember the early days and I think I’ve blocked it all away in my memory!

Personally I'd look into a doula. They may help you with dog and baby, or help you around the house whilst you do things

Why on Earth did you decide to get puppies when you have a new baby on the way?

You shouldn’t get a nanny - newborns need their mum, not a random stranger.

How old is your older child OP? Thinking back to when I had a newborn and a toddler, and then later a newborn, toddler and preschooler, it was help with the older children that I found most useful, so I could concentrate on the baby. Agree that paying for a dog walker sounds a great idea. Cleaner- possibly, but i am like a PP and found having a cleaner around this time stressful as I felt the place had to be tidy at least on the set day, which was hard, and then when the cleaner was there I didn’t want to be in the house really, but wasn’t always up for going out. That could just be me though!
