Well, in London and South East?
Temps have been up to 19C and look to be that way well into the end of the month. I remember past years when it was really cold in October. Now it only seems to be in the morning and later evenings.

Am I being unreasonable?

Even if you think its cold, I am unsure whether having either opinion is "unreasonable". Its just an opinion.

It isn't even an opinion as the weather services have masses of historical temperate data

The warmest October isn't measured by random recollections 😊

Yes, unseasonably warm here - I'm in Scotland, and no heating needed yet. Haven't needed a coat when out and about the last few days, either.

Not especially, I don't think? October is often mild with lovely weather and flowers still blooming. We usually get our first frost in November, with the real winter cold in January and February.

Forecasters are predicting a colder than usual early winter this year (graphs are looking like the winter of 2010/11).

Which forecasters please @Numbat2022 ? I've tried, and failed, to find a long term forecast on the metoffice website.

Temperatures have definitely been higher than usual this October. I am in the Midlands and I have always noticed that temperatures drop and stay dropped by 10-15 October. I am still managing without heating whilst by now I would struggle to go with no heating.

I’ve just cleared the tomato beds in my garden. They were still flowering.

I actually just checked what temps were for October last year in my town and compared to this year. There isn’t as big as difference as I had first thought but on average the temp has been 1c or so higher. This last week which isn’t shown on screenshots had dropped to 13c last year but has still been 16-18c here. Forecast to get colder in a week. Obviously this is my area, the midlands.

Yes usually we are holding out desperate to put the heating on, hasn’t felt cold at all.

We’ve just come back from Scotland and had packed for colder weather, it was just as warm, barely needed a jumper and definitely didn’t need coats.

Actually, realised I had read October 2021 table wrong and the temperature didn’t drop to 13c until 30th October bar one colder day earlier in the month, so for here there hasn’t been much change between the last two Octobers.

Argh, I can’t read properly today. I noticed 21 and 23 October last year did get down to 11c but then increased again so overall not a huge difference with this month being v slightly warmer overall.

October is always warmer than you remember it and March always colder.

Agree!

Mild here in South Wales. I find it annoying. I want to be able to wear a jumper without overheating

Yes keep taking a coat out and end up carrying it. T shirt weather when walking.

Yes it's still warm here too.

Even thought its been miserable cause its nob stop rain, its not cold.

I suspect that's part of the reason

Sorry,

Part of the reason why gas prices are as they are

The energy companies know people will be able to hold off putting the heating on for longer.

But no one seems to be doing anything about climate change so...

I think I heard the other day it's the warmest October ever, so no, it's not recall bias. It's climate change and it's going to continue to get worse.

Even with climate change we still get variability in how cold winters are from year to year. E.g. 20/21 was a lot colder than 21/22.

The energy companies are no more able to predict this than anyone else. (And anyone who says they can accurately predict the weather weeks or months in advance is lying.)

@TomTraubertsBlues

The trend of warmer winters is predictable

YANBU it's 7pm and we have our garden doors open and the dog is lying out there enjoying the evening.

I have used my tumble dryer three times this autumn (and I do a LOT of washing!) and had two loads on the line today. It's lovely.

I have the patio doors open as I type - phone is reading temperature of 17c here in Hampshire! Yes, it is warm and I am thinking that we will have the utility rebate for the warmest winter on record and that spring will be freezing!
