AIBU?
To think this is a really warm October ?
TheLostNights · 12/10/2022 18:56
Well, in London and South East?
Temps have been up to 19C and look to be that way well into the end of the month. I remember past years when it was really cold in October. Now it only seems to be in the morning and later evenings.
Am I being unreasonable?

I'm on the Essex coast. I still have tomatoes on vines in the garden, had the back door open for a couple of hours on Monday to let the freshly mopped floors dry. We still have our summer duvet on the beds and the heating has not gone on yet. However, I sometimes need a jumper in our north-facing living room during the day and a fluffy blanket in the evening, but it's still very mild. Worrying really, isn't it?
I remember about 10 years ago it was hot enough at the beginning of October to take the kids down the beach; that was unheard of then.

It was 6 degrees here yesterday morning. Southeast. It did warm up over the course of the day though.
I'm north Hampshire, it's been 2-3° about 6:30 several mornings. Most days have warmed up & been nice, but one day stayed at 9° A little chilly.

I disagree, north west and it's been dark and rainy for what seems like weeks. October is usually very mild with many blue skies and t-shirt days but I've needed fleeces, coats and wool socks nearly every day and it's definitely been too cold for sandals for weeks.

I have a mid October birthday and I have memories of many days just like today. It’s not that unusual. I’ve been paddling (and even swimming) in the sea at this time of year.
I have also experienced howling gales and torrential rain for my birthday, but it’s not usually cold. In my experience the temperature usually plummets towards the end of this month, usually when the clocks change.

Don’t think it’s any warmer than usual. I’m NW and it’s mild, but just feels like typical Autumn weather. Because I’m looking at my electricity usage a lot, I can see that this time last year we hadn’t yet put the heating on so it must’ve been similar temperature-wise. FB memories earlier in the month shows me wearing t-shirts outside in years past.

Not especially, I don't think? October is often mild with lovely weather and flowers still blooming. We usually get our first frost in November, with the real winter cold in January and February.
Forecasters are predicting a colder than usual early winter this year (graphs are looking like the winter of 2010/11).
Urk - 2010/11 was 'orrible. We had snow for weeks and really low temps.

Interesting conversation here about warm Octobers, I remember the one in 1985 when it was warmer than now

Make the most of it. When the real arctic weather arrives you'll miss these days lol

I’m in Glasgow and it’s 16 degrees here, really muggy and horrible. It is definitely warm but I’ll admit, I do this every year! I go into November thinking ‘hmm, winter isn’t that bad, I must have misremembered how bad it is’, then bam - January and February are god-awful.
I’m not a fan of hot summer weather but I hate, hate, hate driving in the dark, trying not to break my neck on the snow and ice, waking up in the dark and blinding myself with the bedside lamp five days a week. I’d happily fast-forward to the 1st April from here!
