Is Jacob Rees-Mogg actually on glue?

Jacob Rees-Mogg is now claiming that the current economic meltdown is not at all caused by the recent mini budget. Oh no. He blames 'interest rates' and er, 'global factors' and the Bank of England obvs. Oh, and the BBC for daring to ask him questions.

Even given the IQ of the shit show that is the current Conservative Government, who on Earth thought it was a good idea to wheel out this farcical, deluded, mad fucker?

I thought they had firmly sealed Rees-Mogg into a box after his last outburst when he blamed the Grenfell Tower victims for dying because they were stupid. It seems they have let him out.

Somebody who made money from the result of yeh Brexit referendum is always going to look like a dick commenting on the economy and recessions. He will undoubtedly make big money from this recession too.

Walkaround · 12/10/2022 17:18

No doubt making massive profits from deliberately harming the UK economy enables him to tolerate quite happily people laughing at him and calling him stupid.

HandbagAtDawn · 12/10/2022 11:46

He's the ultimate example of what happens when extreme wealth and privilege combines with sub-par intellect in the traumatic crucible of public school.

You end up with really rich, thick sociopaths.

Pithy. I agree.

The best description of JRM I've read, was here from MN. I now use it because i think it describes him perfectly

Jacob Rees Mogg looks like a man, who when he wanks off, dust comes out.

😁

😂😂😂

Walkaround · 12/10/2022 17:22

Still disagreeing he’s stupid. He has made such colossal profits from “his” stupidity, you’d have to be stupid to think it’s not calculated “stupidity.”

FFS MY NEW PHONE KEEPS CUTTING ME OFF

All I said was that it's BANE not North Somerset. Grin

Fairly sure his constituency is North East Somerset - it doesn't include the City of Bath which is in a different parliamentary seat, but perhaps confusingly it does cover some of the same area as Bath and North East Somerset District Council.

The irony of an over privileged history graduate attempting to gaslight the rest of us about the economy.

I studied economics at university and my knowledge pales into insignificance compared to my mum (and many of her generation). My mum
was incredibly thrifty, she managed the family finances and understood growth, debt, profit and loss at a micro level. She was certainly able to grasp how this was connected to macro economics.

The privileged Tory cabal, who have attended some of the most elite schools in the UK, are either failing on purpose or completely out of their depth.

the80sweregreat · 12/10/2022 17:28

They probably couldn't do this at all. but that photo of Jacob Rees Mogg asleep in parliament along the chairs should be used by the other parties with the tag line
.. ' working hard for you '
Or ' conservatives are not working !'
He'd probably sue them though !
He'll keep his seat I bet.

Echobelly · 12/10/2022 17:31

He's not on glue, he's on 'massive quantities of entitlement' that allow him to believe the world is how he imagines it to be, not how it actually is.

BungledBundle · 12/10/2022 17:32

He was exceptionally condescending to Mishal Hussain on the today programme and utterly dishonest in his accusation of breaching the code on impartiality.

Mishal Hussain is a legend. She and Justin whatshisname are my Today prog dream team. Yes, heard something at lunchtime from some banking org so hardly hard left saying no non-partisan organisation agreed with Mogg's take on the situation. He is a mediocre man with outrageous confidence/entitlement.

Would you call Trump stupid? I would despite his wealth. It’s not actually that difficult to make money if you come from money, have monied friends, and retain political power. Particularly if you’re making money in finance. I know quite a few people that I’d consider not very intelligent who make money as fund managers.

Perhaps his nanny is on here? I doubt he knows how to use the internet himself.

I expect he has staff to do that for him.

Mossstitch · 12/10/2022 17:34

@Ihateboris 😂😂 oh yes that's who he reminds me of!....... Wasn't he called 'softie walter' if my memory serves me right from at least 50 years ago🤔

StupidSmallFruit · 12/10/2022 17:34

Gosh, you know things must be dire at Tory party HQ if they can’t even cobble together a decent toff anymore. A lorry driver grandparent??

Federal · 12/10/2022 17:35

I heard him this morning on Radio 4.
the contempt dripping from his voice was unpalatable.

pigcon1 · 12/10/2022 17:36

Love the idea of him being firmly sealed in his box a la Dracula 😂

DriftingDora · 12/10/2022 17:37

Jacob Rees-Smug (sorry, Mogg) impresses me as an even bigger twit than Boris, and that's saying something. I want to know where he buys those 1950's throwback suits he wears - I have a fancy dress party to go to soon....

Camdenish · 12/10/2022 17:37

There’s a removal company outside the Starmer’s right now. ( DM this is untrue.)

bellabasset · 12/10/2022 17:37

You made me laugh😂He appears to be completely divorced from the reality of many people's lives. Send him off for a month with a one bedroom flat and two of his dcs, PAYG meters and a job shelf stacking, going to work by bus.

twilightermummy · 12/10/2022 17:37

I just cannot comprehend how far the guy has come! I thought that he would never been seen again after Boris left and yet here he is regularly speaking on the TV, making actual decisions…I just cannot get my head around the fact that he is a part of the modern day government or that there are still people like him out there. I mean, the king seems more relatable than him!

As a previous poster suggested, I think glue will be the least of it!

the80sweregreat · 12/10/2022 17:39

I think I dislike Zahawi more than him
He is a bitter little man and the heated stables debacle sums him up
He comes across even worse than JRM

smooththecat · 12/10/2022 17:40

His tone is so far off. Who exactly does he think he’s addressing ? A primary school class circa 1950? Just embarrassing.

I agree - I seem to recall the New York Times worked out that for all his business "acumen" Trump would have been more wealthy if he'd taken his inheritance and put it into a low-interest savings account at a bank (this was before his political career though).

The idea that anyone who has or makes a lot of money can't be stupid is very obviously nonsense.

Frankly someone should phone Trading Standards. And his much talked about Catholicism? It does not in fact date back to the days of priest holes and Edmund Campion, but instead comes to him via an Irish American grandmother.

Are the shades of toffery to be thus polluted?
