To think this must be COVID

Extremely sore throat for 2 days now, complete lethargy with no energy to do anything. Migraine-like headache on and off for days. Very occasional sneezing and wheezy chest when flat.

COVID tests repeatedly negative but no cold has ever seemed so severe beyond a seasonal virus. Hearing of so many people with the same at the moment?

It's exactly how mine started. Are your tests in date?

Chicci1 · 10/10/2022 10:48

Following with interest as I have the exact same symptoms but antigens negative so far!

hesbeingabitofadick · 10/10/2022 10:50

I have the same symptoms. Mine began with the worst headache, which is very slightly easing now the sore throat has kicked in...🤦‍♀️
I've not had covid yet (ordered some tests) ibuprofen and paracetomol not touching it.

Topgub · 10/10/2022 10:51

I have an awful cold with a terrible cough.

Covid tests negative.

So its obviously just an awful cold.

Other viruses are still available

This. We’ve all had it here.

I've had similar and so has my DM who I've seen this weekend and last week.

It seems like a really bad cold/virus but with a terrible cough in my DM's case which just won't budge!

We've both been testing every other day for Covid and all negative.

BreathingDeep · 10/10/2022 10:54

This is exactly what I had. Day 1, sore throat and headache. Day 2, the same but worse. Day 3, worse again and very dry cough. All tests negative. Day 4, worse again and finally tested positive.

Get better soon. I'm on day 12 now and feeling brighter but so, so tired.

Thriwit · 10/10/2022 11:00

I had a cold like that about a month ago, I tested for Covid a couple of times but all negative. Was just about recovered then DH tested positive for Covid, 4 days later the headache kicked in and I tested positive too.

Anyway, my point is there’s clearly other viruses around that are similar!

I don’t think it really matters much any more, there’s no legal restrictions, it’s all work-place specific (e.g. both my & DH’s workplaces require negative tests before returning to work).

Hope you feel better soon!

Boriswentcamping · 10/10/2022 11:03

I tested positive today on day 11! similar symptoms. Would have given up
on testing but was still feeling really rubbish and we had covid it in the house so was pretty sure it must have been it...

Gotskeaswr · 10/10/2022 11:10

Our whole house has had that but it’s not Covid.

Sunnyqueen · 10/10/2022 11:12

I had exactly the same recently only with a fever and nausea as well. Didn't bother taking a test so no idea if it was covid or not.

gogohmm · 10/10/2022 11:13

It's possible to get other viruses and also 2 things at once. We felt ill before covid reared it's head.

Use the sensible guide - do you feel too I'll to continue with normal daily activities? If so stay in bed/on sofa.
Do you feel a bit grotty but better with ibroprofen and cough sweets? Carry on but avoid close contact if possible.

It's not a case of ignoring symptoms, more keeping in proportion

ploed · 10/10/2022 11:22

Keep testing!

GlassOuijan · 10/10/2022 11:26

Does it matter? Just look after yourself until you’re better, and try to avoid spreading it, as you would with any other illness.

Hbh17 · 10/10/2022 11:27

Well, as you are not required to isolate, does it matter whether it is Covid or not? If you feel unwell, have a day at home, otherwise just crack on as normal - like most of us do.

Mariposista · 10/10/2022 11:44

Gently put, why does it matter what you have. You’re ill, need rest. When you feel better you will feel better. The name of the illness doesn’t matter

BloodyHellKen · 10/10/2022 11:46

Does it matter if it's covid OP? You are clearly unwell and should rest, recuperate and try and stay away from people.

Three of us here had the so called 'super cold' last autumn. It was very unpleasant and I assumed it must be covid but none of us ever tested positive despite doing many tests and an antibody test in one case. The symptoms I had mirrored 2 friends who tested positive at the same time but it wasn't covid, just another virus.

As an aside, when I definitely did catch Covid a few months later it was no where near as bad as the super cold 😂

FreezingThyme · 10/10/2022 11:50

Does it matter?

It does if you are going to be getting a COVID booster as you're supposed to leave a few months between having COVID and the booster (not sure of correct timings here)

Ffsmakeitstop · 10/10/2022 11:50

Does anyone know about positive tests? I am still testing positive and it's day 10. I don't feel too bad now but work don't want us to go back until we test negative. I asked doctors for guidance because I don't know if I'm still infectious.

It's 28 days from your first positive test according to our GP. We've just been invited for our booster but three of us are positive.

weaselish · 10/10/2022 18:39

I only tested positive for covid last week by day 4 - felt exactly like you. Day 4 was particularly snotty so guess that's when it finally picked it up. The cough was so bad on day 3 then disappeared.

MK19590 · 10/10/2022 18:42

Today I've got a blocked nose and sore throat, very tired and can't stop sneezing. I've tested positive for covid 4 times since 2020 and I do hope this isn't the fifth time
