Anyone having a worse night than me?

zigahzigah · 09/10/2022 01:05

Very lighthearted, I know there will be people having a worse night than me.

Daughters birthday today, I have been at trampoline park and then out for dinner with her and her two friends who are staying the night.

I have sat from 5 pm till 12 am doing a rough draft of a 1500 word essay (so not a lot but a lot to get done in that time) with constant interruptions (to be expected I suppose).

One of the girls is sleeping in my daughters bed whilst the other two are downstairs. I finally shut my laptop and said good night. Finally lay in bed and up they come requesting a pizza. Back down to do that.

Living room, kitchen and daughters room is an absolute bomb site after I had a cleaner in on Friday so it was sitting all nice. Now laying in bed and cannot sleep.

Roll on 10 am pick up time tomorrow morning. My daughter is going to her dads then too.

Then I will clean and try and do another draft of my essay. Promised myself if I did draft tonight I could have some wine tomorrow afternoon, it is the ONLY thing keeping me going tonight.

Anyone else's Saturday night so shit?

I can't sleep. I've taken codeine earlier on for a bad shoulder and it interferes with my sleep! Sadly, it doesn't have the sleepy effect on me, which would be much needed tonight

If you take codeine during the day it will make you sleepy. If you take it at night you will be awake all night. I dont know why this is but it's true.

GaslitlikeaVictorianparlour · 09/10/2022 09:23

jennakong - yes there is. Its been going on here for weeks. I haven't it yet but I'm watching colleagues and friends and family dropping like flies so it can't be long.

Soproudoflionesses · 09/10/2022 09:30

I am lying here waiting for 17yo DS to get in. He was due before 1, is normally very good at being on time. Phone seems to be off Confused Not sure what to do.

Did he get home OK @UUneFilleDeBelleville

@WindyKnickers im from north Devon and my DD has coeliac disease. I can recommend a place in Barnstaple (near the Library) that’s called Charlie’s and everything is gluten free / for coeliacs. They do cakes / breakfasts / other food bits and is brilliant. Check it out if you can 🙂

Thank you but not open on Sundays and we leave today.

caffelattetogo · 09/10/2022 09:54

Oh goodness @Yayasisterhood - did you get any sleep? Sickness and sleepovers are my two least favourite things, so hats off to you.

Crinkle77 · 09/10/2022 10:11

Op you got up at midnight to make them pizza? Why didn't you just say no! That's just absolute madness.

missmamiecuddleduck · 09/10/2022 10:14

I've been working on an analytics project due at midnight and I haven't timed it well. I underestimated the time to learn this new software. My ADHD isn't helping.
It could be worse. I'm just disappointed in myself.

Twinsmummy1812 · 09/10/2022 10:21

My twins have both started Uni in the last few weeks. My husband is away on a stag weekend. I know most of you would kill for my Sunday morning lie in but I really miss my kids!

I’m in the huff because I’ve got no bloody milk left coz the boys drank it all and left none. I could get off my arse and toddle down my sisters or someone’s and borrow some but you can guarantee as soon as I do that the tiny terror will wake for her night feed.
I’ve also run out of miltons so had to boil all my bottles and the leak in the bath has got that bad that one kid can babe a bath upstairs and the other can have a shower standing under the kitchen light. they thought this was hilarious but it’s just a big soggy mess. I’m tempted to nip along to my sisters and wake her whole house up as payback because my brother in law still hasn’t sorted the bath but that risks her girls ending up at mine and that would be worse.

Im just in a funk coz all my pals had kids younger and were away out but my youngest is 11 weeks so I’m stuck in. We used to do things together with the kids but I’m sort of alone with this one

@HighlandPony

sorry , that’s just sounding so exhausting…
but I’m crying with laughter at the way you tell a tale …
you’re funny as hell …
sorry not helpful but you should start a blog 👏👏👏

Toddler with mouth ulcers screaming hourly through the night. 3rd night in a row. Im toast.

zingally · 09/10/2022 11:35

Not the night now, but I'm recovering from the flu. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday were horrendous.
So my Saturday night was spent coughing my guts up and blowing my nose so much I keep giving myself minor nose bleeds.

I'm due back to work tomorrow, and honestly, I'm dreading it. But I'm self-employed, so if I don't work, I don't get paid. And after having 3.5 days off last week, I can't afford any more.

Yayasisterhood · 09/10/2022 14:01

@niki26 This is so awful. I can’t imagine doing last night without water. Everyone wash their hands in scalding hot soapy water all night and plenty of hot washes going on too - I’m still hot washing endless bedsheets and I started at 4am!

HighlandPony · 09/10/2022 16:29

Ha. I fell asleep on you all last night. I’ve tried that frozen milk thing before but it just separates and looks like tapeworm in my tea. I’m probably doing it wrong.

@bettbburg - I'm so sorry. That's terrible. Sending you big hugs.

Thank you. It's really caught up with me tonight and I can't sleep for crying,.

Well one of the girls been sleeping since 12 in DDs bed. Other girl went home homesick about 30 minutes ago and now DD is snoring beside me. I still can't sleep.

Not relevant but why are they sleeping apart? I didn’t know that was a thing.

niki26 · 09/10/2022 23:13

@Yayasisterhood sorry, I've only just seen your post in response to mine! Yes it was terrible - I was almost crying at one point because I felt so ill and helpless. The only saving grace was that the 2 year old and my husband were over the worse of it by 2am and slept whilst the water was off....and my 6 year old was on the sofa next to me and I got a bowl for her. But honestly - I had no clue why the water had gone off and was Googling and trying to work out if what could have happened. Then I heard some noise outside and looked out and saw the guys in high vis doing some stuff with the drains - so at least then I knew it wasn't an issue with just our water supply! When it came back on I ran straight to the toilet to flush it!

Yes, multiple washes today! Nearly caught up now! The downstairs stinks of bleach.

Babyboy2020 · 10/10/2022 19:47

@UneFilleDeBelleville did he come home last night? I hope all is well and he was late, and apologetic and you were cross at him x

a1poshpaws · 10/10/2022 20:43

@MayThe4th Do you think you might extend his time if you could reduce his anxiety? You could try a combination of Adaptil and YuMove Calming Tablets together ...YuMove are a good company; one of my dogs uses their joint remedy and they've been super when I've messed up with an order and they also refund you in full if you think their product hasn't worked after 60 days. My dog's hugely improved using the joint thing - no more yelping when he moves. (I promise I have no connection to them!)
www.viovet.co.uk/Adaptil-Spray-Refills-for-Dogs/c173/?quick_find=110299&msclkid=7c14c58bd1fa121be25fa6cfa559f678 and
yumove.co.uk/products/yucalm-dog

If you think even trying them wouldn't be fair at this stage, then I wish you strength and courage to stay and hold his paw as he crosses over. It's the last act of love we can show them - and I wish we could do the same for humans. 💐

courgettigreensadwater · 10/10/2022 20:55

@UneFilleDeBelleville I had a similar night with my 17 year old DS. Luckily he came in at just gone half one. What time did your DS come back? Hope he was fine. X

nannykatherine · 10/10/2022 21:14

Why on earth are you making them a pizza in the middle of the night ??????

restingbitchface30 · 10/10/2022 21:40

I have newborn twins, one who fights sleep like Mike Tyson fights in a match so I win this game of top trumps in my opinion.
