Anyone having a worse night than me?

Very lighthearted, I know there will be people having a worse night than me.

Daughters birthday today, I have been at trampoline park and then out for dinner with her and her two friends who are staying the night.

I have sat from 5 pm till 12 am doing a rough draft of a 1500 word essay (so not a lot but a lot to get done in that time) with constant interruptions (to be expected I suppose).

One of the girls is sleeping in my daughters bed whilst the other two are downstairs. I finally shut my laptop and said good night. Finally lay in bed and up they come requesting a pizza. Back down to do that.

Living room, kitchen and daughters room is an absolute bomb site after I had a cleaner in on Friday so it was sitting all nice. Now laying in bed and cannot sleep.

Roll on 10 am pick up time tomorrow morning. My daughter is going to her dads then too.

Then I will clean and try and do another draft of my essay. Promised myself if I did draft tonight I could have some wine tomorrow afternoon, it is the ONLY thing keeping me going tonight.

Anyone else's Saturday night so shit?

Lying in bed wide awake in the guest room because I’m in the late 2nd trimester, with an AGONISING slipped disk alongside terrible nausea, constipated, heart burn and trapped wind.

I feel like such a heel for complaining as this pregnancy is a miracle and I’m so so so lucky to be in this position, but gosh pregnancy is kicking my arse.

Up since 5 feeding the baby and the other 2 wake up at 5.30 and DH is wonderful and wakes everyone down but the eldest returned to my bed “to sleep” but actually to make enough noise for 20 mins that I am exhausted but can’t get back to sleep as just slightly too awake.

i go to sleep at 8pm most nights as I am so, so tired.

I have 5x 12yr old boys staying the night for D's birthday and they won't stfu. They are honestly so loud, lost count of how many time I've been downstairs to tell them to settle down. They've just turned off the PlayStation and I can hear them setting up a board game. Ffs. I naively thought I'd just be able to sleep through it.

This wins.

DD decided not to sleep last night. She woke at 10, 12, 3, and 4. On top of that, it was the Ironman world champs in Hawai’i so we were up until midnight watching that anyway. And DH is racing today and got up at 6. DS woke at 6.15 and DH had to bring him in to me. He’d usually let me lie in for a bit (7ish 😂 massive lie in) but he’s off to run 38 miles! I don’t envy him on no sleep!

Dc has croup again so woken by the constant barking cough and when asleep all I hear are feverish mumblings about robots and Mario strikers!

Settled in my bed propped up with what seems like a million pillows and surrounded by cuddly toys that keep getting lost under the bedding.

We also have a Halloween trick or treat bucket for any vomiting which glows eerily in the dark and slightly unnerving.

DC whinges and cries when I insist on puffs with the inhaler and tries to hide under the duvet which makes the cough worse!

I managed to spill calpol all over my side of the freshly changed bed so its stuck to me a bit.

DC also needs toenails cut as I keep getting jabbed by a razer sharp big toe everytime I start dropping off.

After sleeping for maybe 90 mins there since the last bout of coughing/toenail jabbing i've woken up thirsty and needing the loo and the house feels freezing.

Dh is on nightshift and will breenge in the door yakking loudly on his phone and wake us in approx 30 mins😥

DC now almost lying on me but asleep so my bladder and thirst will have to wait a little longer.

NITS NITS BLOODY NITS 🤢🐜 Oh and me and DH have begun to scratch too. Can you guess how I will be spending my Sunday?

I think I can maybe compete!
Baby has been hard to settle, went to a friend's house with the baby for dinner, her baby was asleep, mine was absolutely not.
We got home, house has been transformed into a tip.
Baby has been up every hour on the hour for a feed, and a bit of a scream into his mattress.
I've had precisely 1 hours sleep and I'm due to be up in an hour to get ready for a family day out.
The heating was turned up this evening, DH conveniently told me that either the thermostat was broken or the actual heating was playing up. Too tired to care, but the heating has been on since about 11pm. Its very very warm! Too warm!

And picking up DS hourly has meant that my sciatica is already v painful. I've taken paracetamol, cannot take ibuprofen and cannot take anything that could potentially become addictive)
And my duvet cover is covered in dog slob er, he locks the duvet.always on my side

My baby was like this and I couldn't understand it. Turned out she liked a very strict 6pm bedtime from a couple of months old! She'd spend the evening waking and crying if she wasn't in bed by 6.

She's 15 months now and can stretch until half 6 but if she's not in bed by then we never hear the end of it Grin

@WindyKnickers im from north Devon and my DD has coeliac disease. I can recommend a place in Barnstaple (near the Library) that’s called Charlie’s and everything is gluten free / for coeliacs. They do cakes / breakfasts / other food bits and is brilliant. Check it out if you can 🙂

elephantseal · 09/10/2022 07:50

@bettbburg - I'm so sorry. That's terrible. Sending you big hugs.

Dragonskin · 09/10/2022 07:50

I got back from holiday yesterday, and started getting bad stomach pains on the flight. Went to the loo as we got into the airport, all good. Started walking to passport control and sharted as I got there. Of course the next set of loos is at baggage reclaim, so I did this weird half walk/half run thing until I got to safety and could sort myself out, my husband found it hilarious but I was mortified!

Yes this did genuinely happen, no I'm not a poo troll (or any kind of troll)

catinboots123 · 09/10/2022 07:55

Ok imma be that one that comes on the thread and wins 😀 my dog has been fitting all night. He's incredibly old and unwell. I think it's just a case of time. Also I dropped boiling water on my foot when I was draining pasta.

Anyone else's Saturday night so shit?

Recently someone bought a farm opposite me. Last night they had a rave. It was fucking horrible. The police turned up in five cars about 12am, the music was turned down ( which was still unbearable) but was turned back up again to mind boggling levels as soon as they left.

I couldn’t understand why the police left with out closing it down as this wasn’t a few people listening music in the back garden - this was industrial speakers and a field full of cars.

I had to put ear phones on and listen to a pod cast at about 3am to get to sleep. Just seen a post on the village facebook site complaining about it at 7am - they must have only just finished 😱

It had been going since 2pm the previous day. Local facebook is going mad

Rowgtfc72 · 09/10/2022 08:18

New puppy. First night.
Needless to say he's snoring away in his bed right now while we all look like zombies.

niki26 · 09/10/2022 08:20

Whole household has had norovirus - including a 2 year old and 6 year old. Plus the water company turned off our water overnight to do some unexpected repair works so when it really kicked in for me (1am) I couldn't flush the toilet at all, or get any water to sip! I also had a gastric sleeve two weeks ago so worried about any damage I may have caused to that.

EbbyEbs · 09/10/2022 08:26

A few weeks ago I had my granddaughter overnight. She’s 2. She just would NOT sleep - I had her in my bed and tried to cuddle her to sleep etc but she wouldn’t have it. She’d insisted on bringing a gang of peppa pigs to bed and at one point I felt wet and thought she might have wet the bed … nope … one of her peppa pigs was a bath toy that was previously filled with water, she’d decided to expel the water all over the bed 🤦‍♀️ 2am and im changing sheets whilst madam is singing baby shark full of energy … she finally fell asleep at 2:45. My bedtime is normally 10:30 😂😂😂 good job I love her!

lovelilies · 09/10/2022 08:26

@sashh I was worried about appendicitis, did end up going back to A&E at 2am. She still has pain now but as it's not moved to the right and she's no other symptoms they're not worried.
Watch and wait here. At least I managed to sleep 3.30-7.30.

I like the solidarity of 'why are you awake' threads Smile

Started new job sleep in shift. I wanted to be at home with my babies. Not enjoyed the job wondering how I got myself in this situation.

TooHotToTangoToo · 09/10/2022 08:47

Almost snap op. Small house, teenage dd has a friend staying tonight. The upstairs is a smog of hair products and perfume before they go out, I had to meet them at 11pm to walk home (I'm usually in bed by 10), they were still giggling at 3am and I woke at 5am to the dog puking over the clothes I wore yesterday and was going to use for dog walking today. I also know my dd will be grumpier than a grumpy thing on a grumpy day all day today because she's knackered lol

fghj149 · 09/10/2022 08:52

Got the covid booster yesterday which made me tired and did not bode well for waking up to bf 4 week old DS. He was up on the hour every hour, and at about 5am the sore legs started to kick in. Now he’s snoozing away and a horrific headache has joined the fun. Lying here before summoning the strength to get some paracetamol 😂

jennakong · 09/10/2022 09:06

Is there a giant outbreak of norovirus or something?

I haven't had my life or Christmas or pillows ruined by NV for at least five years, so it must be time.

whattodoisthequestion · 09/10/2022 09:21

@UneFilleDeBelleville hope everything was ok and he came home
