Why is there always that one family...

....round the pool in hotel who think they own the place and have no consideration for others?

Yelling at each other, throwing balls and not caring that they hit other guests. Generally being as noisy as possible, it's almost as if they just want to clear the area of people so that they can have their own space to themselves. Fucking loads of them, school age kids as well. Why are they even here in term time? It's exactly why I avoid school holidays so that I don't have to put up with noise from kids.

I know it's a first world problem as I'm on holiday in a beautiful place but it's my last day and I'm grumpy that it's being ruined.

People should show consideration. I'm guessing you are abroad somewhere tho. Its not term time everywhere in the world.

GaspingGekko · 08/10/2022 09:46

Yeah it's school holidays here at the moment - not based in the UK but plenty of British people live here.

I agree that people should try to be considerate of others at the pool, but unreasonable to expect no children because it's term time wherever you are from.

If you want adults only plenty of hotels cater for this. You do not need to stay at s family orientated hotel

I don't want adults only. I just want people who are not twats. And they are clearly British.

Just come back from Lanzarote, beautiful sunshine with a fresh breeze

No one booking sun loungers, no one acting as OP describes.

Maybe we were just lucky.

girlmom21 · 08/10/2022 10:02

Are they actually ruining your last day? If the ball hits you, ask them to be more careful.

It would still be annoying if you were there with your own kids though? As a nanny I've taken my little one to a public paddling pool in the summer, the very definition of family-oriented, and everyone else was able to use the space nicely. Except one group of kids who were playing rough with each other and shoving each other under with no care as to who was around them having to rush out of the way. Not an adult in sight to tell them that the pool was for the enjoyment of everyone

tiredofthiisshit21 · 08/10/2022 10:56

Also, it's not just about the kids. The adults are being as noisy as humanly possible as well. There's just no need.

I don't think it matters where you go. Some people are just inconsiderate.

We were camping in the summer... one group were practically encouraging the kids to se other people tents as goals for a game of football. We had to stop them kicking it directly at our BBQ...

They either don't think or are just oblivious.

IhateHermioneGranger · 08/10/2022 11:02

Why does it matter if they are British? Seems irrelevant. A bunch of twats is a bunch of twats.

chocolatemademefat · 08/10/2022 11:03

Every hotel I’ve ever been to abroad have had families like this. Awful behaviour and why British people get bad reputations.

its not as simple as asking them to be more careful - do that and you run the risk of worse behaviour because they feel entitled to do what they want.

They’re rude and don’t care how other people see them - no class.

I was referring to the fact that it's not school holidays.

Even in some adult only places you get the odd over loud family group, albeit all over 18. The loudness often getting louder as the day goes on and their alcohol consumption grows.

Sadly not every holiday maker is a considerate person.

coldcoldheartt · 08/10/2022 18:18

I like to go to hotels where there is an adults only pool. 10/10 would recommend. I hate kids (I have three)

SkySmiler · 08/10/2022 22:28

The problem is the parents.

Needahug72 · 08/10/2022 22:30

School holidays in Scotland at the moment so not sure why you think it’s not school holidays??

Have you been on the holiday vino? There is no hotel that says it’s twat free, and you must be aware that as someone is British doesn’t mean they live in Britain, the world has not been that small for a very long time.

DevaleraSpawnOfSatan · 08/10/2022 22:38

We went to the same apartment in Spain for years, perfect location, every year, lovely people then................

In landed an Irish family, and they were loud, (she parented from her sunbed ) to no avail, if the children were misbehaving she shouted don't do that you won't get a treat up in the old town tonight.

After two days of this, (I am Irish) I went over and said loudly none of us here paid for a two week holiday for you to parent from your sunbed, so I suggest you decamp to the beach if you want to be loud and aggressive, because that is not the vibe around this pool.

They buggered off to the beach and peace was restored, when it was apparent they were not coming back to the pool, lots of other people thanked me for speaking up.

tiredofthiisshit21 · 09/10/2022 10:30

Very well done@DevaleraSpawnOfSatan.

@Anniefrenchfry do you know how patronising you sound?
