AIBU?
Fuck, this hurts
Fixesplease · 08/10/2022 01:12
Grumpy, cold ,maybe peri menopausal me, not helping. I sat up tonight and feck me, my hip hurts!
That bit right in between the joint, it's given out twice tonight, is this a thing?
I'm 39.. I swear I'm peri, (hot flushes, insomnia, grumpy ) too early or just shit bones.
Also I love / live with a fuckwit who is snoring to hell.. anyone good for an alibi?
Am I being unreasonable?

How’s your back normally? It sounds a bit like sciatic pain. I have a huge hernia at L5 and it feels like toothache in my hip/deep in my right arse cheek.
Whatever the cause, you have my sympathy. I’m also awake next to my own snorer. I’m considering going down and raid the fridge for chocolate.
Aquamarine1029 · 08/10/2022 01:18
It could be bursitis. I have it and it's a real bitch.
Fixesplease · 08/10/2022 01:23
Ha, the last 25 mins I've been cold, generally speaking I'm fecking boiling, ( school mums keep commenting on my t shirts!) I've resorted to a coat with a red and pissed off face. 😂
I need to do something about this damned hip. 😩
Pixiedust1234 · 08/10/2022 01:25
I found my Vit D took a nose dive around that age. It causes a lot of generalised pain (and other stuff). I've been having months of trouble again lately and I remembered about Vit D so I went and got the D3000 spray with k2. In a week I've felt the best I have all year. Might be a coincidence, might not.
Blueeyedgirl21 · 08/10/2022 01:32
Maybe book a sports massage or see a PT for some exercises? Doubt you need a hip replacement at your age unless you were born with congenital issues or something
Blueeyedgirl21 · 08/10/2022 01:34
and poke the snorer every time he snores. He has no more right to a good nights sleep. Get a sofa bed for him. And a trip to the GP, Snoring is often easily treated
JaneorEleven · 08/10/2022 02:40
Yes get your Vit D level checked, mine tanked in my early 40s. Can you get a hip X-ray and or see an orthopedist?
Im not sure if it’s peri menopause, you’re still young. I am in full menopause, I haven’t been cold since 2019. But no harm asking for your hormones to be checked.
I hope you start feeling better soon, maybe try Ibuprofen and moving to the couch for some peace tonight, and then look for a better solution to the snorer.
UnadulteratedCat · 08/10/2022 02:47
you can get cold with peri. Take a good look at the balance app to check your symptoms
MrsRhodes · 08/10/2022 02:51
I was getting hip pain - a cushion between my knees means I can get out of bed without too much trouble in a morning now!
Also, you have my upmost sympathy with the snorer ... I have one laid next to me right now - the occasional prod shuts him up for a bit!
Dontcareforthehaters · 08/10/2022 04:30
These sound exactly like my very early pregnancy symptoms......
ImustLearn2Cook · 08/10/2022 04:53
I had pain in the joint of my hip in my 20’s. It would not get better on it’s own. I eventually went to a doctor; after referral to an orthopaedic surgeon and an MRI or a CT scan (I can’t remember which one it was) I was diagnosed as having a small labral tear that if physio therapy didn’t help then I would have needed surgery. Luckily physio worked and also that it was diagnosed before the tear became bigger.
So, it might be worth getting it checked by a doctor.
MinnieMountain · 08/10/2022 06:36
Separate rooms OP. It’s a sanity saver.
I had cold flashes before I had hot flushes. Peri sends our internal temperature control haywire.
ChocolateSpreadOnToast · 08/10/2022 06:47
I’m peri and I’m cold. I’m early 40s. I’ve just had my vitamin D,,B12 and iron levels checked too.
PizzaPizza56 · 08/10/2022 07:22
This sounds like how the cold/flu virus I've just had started. Hot and cold flashes one night accompanied by crazy muscle/joint pain. Sore throat the next day and then the snot started the day after that. A week later I'm almost back to normal.
Ludwig1 · 08/10/2022 07:42
I get a horrible hip/joint pain and at times it just gives way and I almost fall over. It's like the tendons along the groin where it meets my leg. Sorry if that's not a great explanation. I realised it mainly happens when I'm ovulating or on my period. No idea what it is though. It used to happen a lot in pregnancy too x
superplumb · 08/10/2022 07:53
I'm 43 and been on hrt almost a year. Night sweats and general hotness was awful. I do get cold occasionally though. My bones hurt but its general. If you have a pain in a specific area could be you've hurt it somehow. Vit d deffo. Everyone should take it in winter I believe.
SewingWarriorQueen76 · 08/10/2022 08:48
There are over 50 different symptoms for peri. Worth looking up Dr Louise Newsome page and the FAQs. FWIW I had aches everywhere and was groaning on getting out of bed. Started HRT at 44 & probably should have been on it sooner.
Also would any stretches help. I found as I am getting older sitting in a desk chair has shortened my tendons and it pulls my hip too much.
GobbolinoTheWitchesCat · 08/10/2022 09:23
I get this when the muscle gets too tight but the pain is awful! If it's muscular, then massage and stretching will help. Clamshells and hip stretches..take care to stretch hip flexors at front of leg too. If you get it right, pain should disappear.
Is it worse when you lie on it?
Sports deep tissue massage and/or shiatsu massager which you can get reasonably priced from amazon.
KangarooKenny · 08/10/2022 09:34
Try some cod liver oil or something similar for joints.
ChocolateSpreadOnToast · 08/10/2022 09:44
I recommend the Balance app if you think you’re peri menopausal. Louise Newsome’s podcast are great, really informative and helpful with providing facts to take to your GP.

It could be bursitis. I have it and it's a real bitch.
I’ve had a couple of hip issues and this would be my guess. Worth trying ibuprofen though.
