Mysterious parcel delivery

Just got back from work and found a large parcel has been delivered from M&S that we haven't ordered. It is addressed to my husband, with his nickname and surname. My teenage son was home all day and happened to pop outside and saw the courier leave it on our doorstep - he thinks it was delivered by DPD. My husband is away for a few days, so I rang him to tell him that a large parcel had arrived from M&S. He said that he hadn't ordered anything from M&S and asked me to open it. There was no paperwork or delivery note inside, but there were 2 brand new M&S suits, on hangers, with labels and wrapped in plastic. They are far too big for my husband - 38" long trousers x2 (£99) each and matching jackets 46" chest X2 (£55) each.
Any ideas?

This happened to me.

I had my identity stolen and they had ordered loads of junk on an account opened in my name and sent it to me.

He needs to get on this asap. Phone M&S and explain and check all three credit reference agencies. It's likely they'll have applied for more credit accounts/loans/credit cards using his details.

Have you ever had a gift from someone from M&S before? Because if so, they could have accidentally clicked on a saved address for your DH when ordering for themselves.

It is odd stuff for fraud unless they need suits for a white collar crime job!

I would think it was this aswell! I once ordered my friend a bday present from etsy and sent it to her address and then ordered something for myself months later and hadn't realised it had made my friends address the default address! I noticed right after i had ordered it luckily and cancelled it.

I rang M&S Customer Service last night and they didn't recognise the reference number on the parcel, but they were able to identify it with the delivery address. The woman I was speaking to, was happy that she had the correct order details on her screen, but could not tell me who had ordered them due to GDPR. She suggested a friend/family member who might have sent my husband a gift through M&S before - but he's never had a gift sent to him directly from M&S by anyone. She didn't seem concerned, but left a voicemail message with the person who ordered it and said they would probably contact me soon. I then thought I had worked it out and rang one of his "bigger" friends, but he hadn't ordered any suits...so I'm none the wiser.

When my husband gets back tomorrow night, I'll get him to check to check the credit agencies - I know of Experian, any idea who the others are?
