On a plane, sat next to a family with three kids all on devices at full volume with no headphones on. When did this become an ok thing to do? The noise is unbearable,
bloody Cocomelon

Complain to an attendant. We did this in the summer (the dad was watching a disaster movie VERY loudly too!) and they soon told them to quieten down

It’s my plan once I can get up - everyone around also starting to look very stressed!

Oh Christ, I wouldn't be able to handle that. Nothing pisses me off more than other people's lack of consideration. Have a discreet word with the air steward/ess. Honestly what is it with people and their noisy devices. My son recently spent 4 months in hospital and it was the same there. Other patients watching or listening to various devices full blast and nobody batted an eyelid. I hope they tone it down and you get to enjoy your flight.

We had this a few years ago on a ten hour trip to our honeymoon. We had booked our seats but somehow ended up in the middle of a wedding part of around 15 people who not only thought that having devices with no headphones was okay for their kids but that it was acceptable to lean over our seats to talk to each other meaning we felt more cramped than ever. The flight attendants did say something a few times but they’d start up again garter 20 mins or so. Never been so glad that we were travelling to an adult only hotel.

On the plus side, it gave me the extra leverage to persuade the husband to fly premium economy with the extra room and free drinks on all flights to the Caribbean after that!

Cocomelon is the single most annoying thing in the world. I can handle most kids stuff, but not that tosh.

My sincere condolences, I feel for you.

Put Pornhub on equally as loud, that should quieten them.

Definitely speak to a flight attendant. The rest of the stressed passengers will think you're fab for speaking up!

Shitty parenting and very rude of them.

AtrociousCircumstance · 07/10/2022 17:08

That’s not ok. Can you speak to an air steward and get them to ask them to turn it down/use headphones?

Doggiedoodoos · 07/10/2022 17:10

That is the most selfish thing about people - not considering others. I have complained many times about kids devices being too loud and the parents glaring at me but if I am in a restaurant/coffee shop or actually anywhere in a public place that I am paying money to be in I dont want to hear what someone else is watching or hear who they are talking to etc. EARPHONES ARE A THING for crying out loud.

Namrchangedforthis · 07/10/2022 17:11

About to take off - wish me luck!
