I'm in a Hampton by Hilton hotel abroad. It's 03.42.
I didnt arrive until around half midnight at fell asleep straight away. The room was quiet.
I woke up 1.44 to a really loud noise.i think it was plumbing. It went on for ages. I recorded the noise on my phone. I phoned reception and the guy said he would come up. He didnt. The plumbing nose stops. There a ventilation buzzing. I phoned at 03.20. He said he cant do anything but will send the technicians up at 06.00 when they come in.

I'm shattered but cantcsleep because of the noise.
I'm just ranting because I'm knackered and no one can fix it! All I get is ' sorry madame'

Oh no! Can you ask to be moved room?

LHReturns · 06/10/2022 02:57

This has happened to me (a plumbing drilling sound every 15 minutes for 3 minutes at a time). I recorded it and got a full refund the next day. You got ear plugs? It’s outrageous from the hotel…

GGGD · 06/10/2022 03:02

Run the tap and flush the toilet as it might be from your bathroom.
Demand a full refund tomorrow.

GlitterB0mb · 06/10/2022 03:24

Ask to switch rooms. Otherwise demand a full refund tomorrow

octoberfarm · 06/10/2022 03:39

I'd ask to switch rooms and if that's not an option (or even if it is), I'd also ask for earplugs. Hope you manage to get some sleep and at least a partial refund in the morning Flowers

I've just been given a new room. Guy in the desk was reluctant to. He wants to know what time I'm vacating this room as it's not possible to hold two rooms!!! I've left all my stuff in original room because I'm too knacked to prat about packing.
I've always lived this hotel group but I'm not happy tonight.

An update and a'how would you preceded ' advice needed please.
It is a week since I stayed in this hotel. How it ended was the reception guy said he would send a technician up at 6 when they started work. I said that was no good as it would mean a whole night without sleep. He didn't suggest anything else. I tried to sleep but the noise was loud. After a while I rang and asked for a different room. It is now 5.00ish. He tells me to get the key because he can't leave the desk ( In our first call he said he would be up to listen to noise but he never came) I went to the reception to get a key to a different room and as he hands it over he asks when am I vacating the initial room as I can't have two rooms at once. I said I have not had any sleep at all yet I have no idea when I am waking up. He repeated I can't have two rooms at once. I said 'Once again, I don't know when I am getting up. I have had no sleep at all, let me have a few hours
I went into the other room and got to sleep about 05.45. The room was quiet, no issues.
I asked to speak to the manager as I was about to leave. I was offered a free coffee, he said he would need to send the engineers to have a look and he would get in touch. He took my email. I've not heard a word since. I told him the customer care was poor. I wasn't offered an alternative at any point, I was told I would have to wait until 6 for engineers to see what the noise was. The guy was demanding what time I would give up the original room if I went into another to get a bit of sleep.

What would you do? Would you let it go? The lack of sleep round my plans for the following day as I intended to have early breakfast and get the 9:10am train to the city and have a day sight seeing. I didn't get the train until 1:10pm, so a bit of a wasted day.
I'm still annoyed to be honest.

Personally I think it was good that they moved you to another room, but I don't think it was unreasonable of them to need to know when you would be vacating the first room if you weren't going to right away. They probably needed to clean it to get it ready for another guest the next night.

rookiemere · 13/10/2022 19:57

I would email the Hilton central complaints listing what happened- maybe bullet point to make it easy to read - and state that whilst you appreciate being moved you did not have a nights sleep and it puts you off staying again. As a loyal customer you would appreciate a refund or a voucher towards another break.

I'd not dwell on being asked what time you would vacate, that's not the key issue. You main grounds for complaint were that the original room was so noisy, you got very little sleep.
