Yes it’s safe. The Lakes Estate which is the large estate nearby used to get a lot of rep but it’s as safe as any other area of the city. Milton Keynes is a great place to live, huge amounts of things to do, with lots of green spaces, near open country. It’s built around the car though and public transport isn’t great, other than that it’s a great city.

©Lesina thank you for the reply, the thing is I see lots of dumped rubbish opposite site of the estate and is not too far from the area where we wan t to buy ,but apart of this thing area looks quiet..

Knowing the area personally no I wouldn’t move there. I’d avoid Bletchley almost in its entirety but I’d especially not move to or near the lakes estate.

Many years ago I worked in Bletchley but lived in Leighton Buzzard which was fantastic. Still have friends there who love it. Short distance from Bletchley and quick access to Euston by rail.

RBowmama · 05/10/2022 10:22

I'm inclined to agree with @BigBunkers I'd say Leighton Buzzard/Linslade is preferable personally over Bletchley. I'd have a good look around the Bletchley area if that's where your deciding on. If your budget allows look at the surrounding villages.

Thatsveryniceofyou · 05/10/2022 10:38

I wouldn't personally due to the schools. May be better looking nearby - for example Newton Leys is in catchment for the grammar schools Aylesbury and Buckingham (currently I know it can change )and will give better options potentially for schooling or you could look at areas nearby - the Brickhill villages -nice good schools etc but still gives you easy access to roads

@BigBunkers may I ask what s the bad things,I m London based ATM, everyone say London is dangerous but to be honest I try to interact with people from that area and people are a little bit retrained,I mean not that friendly, apart from that is a quiet area how i see it,houses are mixed some of them counci some of them private, may I ask what s the bad part of that area ,
I mean is the crime rate is high , poverty,or other things?another thing I ask people if is some issues and I call the police how quick he cops will be out and a lady tod the sometimes conming out next day.. don t know if is true.or.not

Yes crime, anti social behaviour, poverty, schools.

I can’t answer the query on the police responses, I genuinely wouldn’t know.

If you are from the area, I think you’d be hard pushed to find anyone who’d recommend it. It’s got a not great reputation that’s never improved.

BigBunkers · 05/10/2022 15:07

The other thing I’d add is look on rightmove. The house prices there are low compared to other areas in Milton Keynes. As an ‘outsider’ that’d tell me what I needed to know I think!

Sailorchick14 · 05/10/2022 15:16

I grew up in the local area and Bletchley has improved massively over the years but I think I would still chose another area of Milton Keynes if I was moving back to the area. When I was at school in the 90's one of our geography projects was comparing an area in decline (Bletchley) and an area in growth (MK). There has been a lot of investment in the area over the years.
I'm not local enough to know what its like now in any detail but Milton Keynes is a lovely place to live, just pick the right area.

rbe78 · 05/10/2022 15:23

Looking at Google Maps, it's just across the road from a landfill site. A quick google shows it's been granted permission to stay open for another 15 years, and has frequent complaints about the smell.

AssemblySquare · 05/10/2022 15:26

The schools really aren’t great in Bletchley. There are much nicer parts of MK, and as PPs have said Leighton Buzzard is really nice.
