To take this back to JD

My nan brought my son the wolves kit for his birthday on Saturday. He wore it Saturday for half an hour on the bouncy castle at his party. When he came off I asked him to come here as I noticed the kit looked weird. Upon inspection it was pulls all over the front of the top and shorts, he took it off immediately. My nan paid almost £50 for it and my son will not wear it now (he has additional needs). Would I be unreasonable to take it back and ask them to exchange it as surely it shouldn't have gone like that or is it tough shit and I'll have to buy another? Fwiw he definatley only stayed on the bouncy castle not climbing trees or anything.

It's not a fault

It's wear and tear! He's pulled it on something

How could it be the shops fault?

OooohAhhhh · 03/10/2022 13:14

Just take it back & say it's faulty, say you received it like that. They will refund, but you will need the receipt or card which was used to pay.

BrokenRainbow22 · 03/10/2022 13:54

I know its not a fault and I could understand if he had been wearing it for 6 months but half an hour really??

Thanks I do have the receipt she put it in the bag for him, however I've removed the tags 😬

They aren't fools!

It's clearly a pull of the fabric... what else do you think it is? 😆

BrokenRainbow22 · 03/10/2022 15:09

I didn't say it was anything else, I stated it has pulls all over it. My question was would I be unreasonable to take it back to the shop or not. I don't think anybody would be happy if it looked to be in this state after 30 mins of wear. I will take it as I am being very unreasonable and it should have just be worn when he wasn't doing any kind of activity.

It's not just the pull - there's a lot of bobbly material there. I agree that's poor quality.

lalaloopyhead · 03/10/2022 15:13

Yes, that looks pretty poor quality - its worth giving it a try.

Hellocatshome · 03/10/2022 15:13

Was there any exposed velcro bits on the bouncy castle? That's usually how that type of material goes when it has ended up accidentally stuck to some velcro.

tea1tea2 · 03/10/2022 15:14

you should take back , its not the quality worth £50.

Denny53 · 03/10/2022 15:15

I thought you’d said he wore it whilst on a bouncy castle? Then you said he hasn’t worn it whilst doing an activity?

BrokenRainbow22 · 03/10/2022 15:15

@Hellocatshome oh god yes!! The bouncy castle had a slide but the material kept coming loose and exposing the velcro. I didn't even think of that being the cause but that does make sense.

Still miffed its ruined now though.

BrokenRainbow22 · 03/10/2022 15:16

@Denny53 I said maybe he shouldn't have worn it whilst doing an activity. The activity being bouncing on a bouncy castle.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 03/10/2022 15:19

Yes I'd try it.

Bloody disgraceful using crap materials that wear so easy.

I'd email the supplier directly.

DS got 2 pairs of Adidas bottoms and one went to bit's after one wash.

I posted them back as faulty and got a refund no problem.

emmathedilemma · 03/10/2022 15:23

It's the velcro then, it'll do that to the best fabric and is particularly bad on sports kit type fabric.

BrokenRainbow22 · 03/10/2022 15:24

@EmeraldShamrock1 I will do that now, I will attatch all photos and receipt so they can see it was only purchased Saturday and see if they respond.
Would you email Wolves or JD sports?

OP posts:
Hellocatshome · 03/10/2022 15:24

Yep it'll be the velcro I have much experience of kids in football strips on bouncy castles 🙈

HebeSunshine · 03/10/2022 15:30

Give it a try but don't mention the Velcro!!!

SummaLuvin · 03/10/2022 15:35

If it had been normal use then I would see about returning for a refund/replacement as that is excessive wear and tear for the time worn. However, the damage is due to the item being mis-treated then I don't think it would be fair to return it. Velcro is damaging to many fabrics and it is not a fault of the garment or manufacturer that this happened. It would be like returning. cashmere jumper because it shrunk in a hot wash!

Tretchikoff · 03/10/2022 15:38

Email JD. Your contract was with them not the FC.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 03/10/2022 15:49

Would you email Wolves or JD sports?
I'd email both.

Bbq1 · 03/10/2022 16:01

Just email JD. It may have been the velcro but still, being ruined after 30 mins wear isn't acceptable. It was an expensive gift from his Nan so I understand especially if your son now won't wear it. Jd is a huge retailer that can easily absorb the cost of the kit and replace it. Look out for Velcro next time!
