To report next doors dog?

My nextdoor neighbours yappy little dog is driving me to insanity. It barks and howls the entire time its left alone. So mon to fri this is 8am-6pm. Weekends can be one extreme to the other. Occasionally silence. Most of the time the entire weekend as she is rarely home and never take it with her. I live in a mid terrace. I cant escape the noise at all. I work shifts 70% nights and this yappy highpitched creature keeps me awake as my bedroom is back of the house and next to their open kitchen window. My living room window is literally next to their open kitchen window. Today im trying to watch a movie with my kids and all i can hear is yap yap yap none stop. I struggle with multiple sounds at the same time so this means i cant concentrate on the film. Last time i had an assignment for uni due i had to literally book myself into a hotel to get it done as i couldn't concentrate throughout the day cos all i can heat is barking and howling. It's literally driving me to insanity. Its been 2 years and its getting worse not better.

Ive mentioned it to the neighbour and the response was basically yeah i know he does but theres nothing i can do if im not there. Maybe rehome the dog if it needs constant attention you cant give it 😩

Aibu to report them? Though i know realistically nothing will be done. I just need to get it iff my chest cos i cannot deal with it this eve 😩

Absolutely I would. And I would keep being a nuisance and keep on reporting.

Cw112 · 02/10/2022 20:14

Yeah I'd report tbh. It sounds like the dog is being left too long or has separation anxiety. Either way prolonged barking is a noise issue.

Badger1970 · 02/10/2022 20:18

It's bloody cruel to leave a dog that distressed.

I'd report to the RSPCA and record it.

Mumtopeaxxx · 02/10/2022 20:18

Omg yes 100% report it, that is awful. What she can do….is rehome the poor thing.

LadyApplejack · 02/10/2022 20:19

Go for it. Sounds hideous. Why do these selfish morons even get dogs??

RootinandTootin · 02/10/2022 20:21

Absolutely report it, log times and get recordings as proof. They will do something but every time it happens you need to report it thereafter. The owner will get a couple of chances to rectify it. Poor dog is probably so stressed out you’d be doing it a favour. What a terrible owner

roundtable · 02/10/2022 20:23

We have our dog like that in our cul de sac. Most of the neighbours seem to go for shouting 'shut your fucking dog up'.

You might find it cathartic? 😆

roundtable · 02/10/2022 20:25

Oh just realised they are not there all day. That would be incredibly irritating!

marmaladepop · 02/10/2022 20:27

Please report it. This is far too long to leave a dog for. So cruel.

Daffiy · 02/10/2022 20:34

Report. I had this next door, tried discussing it with them, shouting in desperation for it to shut up etc etc, they told me there was nothing they could do about it.
Once they got the letter from the council they seemed to magically sort the barking out.
I’m a massive dog lover and did have 3 myself but there are so many fuckwits having dogs who can’t look after them properly, there needs to be a license brought in.

Pumpkinpatchlookinggood · 02/10/2022 20:51

Report on your neighbourhood fix it site. And ask for a form to log all noise. They have to ring you monthly to see if the issue has been resolved on fix it. Keeps the issue at the Get It Sorted stage.

2ManyPjs · 02/10/2022 20:55

That's borderline cruelty to leave it for that amount of time every day. That would break my heart hearing it cry every day (and also drive me to insanity too so well done for putting up with it for 2 years)! I would absolutely report to RSPCA but would be wary if retaliation from the neighbour.

Tealpoppy · 02/10/2022 21:26

We have the same issue with next door
they have a lab-and they don’t think twice about leaving it at home, and I’m sick of the barking
i tried having a word-got a shrug,complained-nothing-reported-ditto
so what did he do?
got a girlfriend (mainly for free childcare) and she brings her bloody dog to live with them
its double the barking now as they set each other off
we can’t have friends dogs round,as theirs try to scale the fence to get at them and all the owners do is shout ‘shut up’ wetly at them, dogs ignore them and the dogs carry on

AmIThatMam · 02/10/2022 21:36

Report to the RSPA I would be worried about the dog’s welfare
