What Makes YOU Laugh?

I was reading on here some very funny stories by people like, Bob Monkhouse, Ken Dodd, Tommy Cooper etc - Jokes are they a thing of the past - I hope not … they have been a great distraction from all the gloom and doom in the last few days … really liked this one;
If you’re an American 🇺🇸 when you go into the bathroom AND an American when you come out of the bathroom … what are you when you’re in the bathroom?
ANSWER: you’re European (you-r-a-peein)

DC say it's hard to make me laugh.

I like small moments humour. I like wry commentary & Indirect "in" witty jokes that are observational, like Larry the Cat saying this week I don’t know about you but I’m getting worried for how bad things might get once the honeymoon period is over…

The cat oblivious to his tail in the washing up bowl is funny. Cycling-out-of-Context on Twitter is funny. .

I like fairly dark humour. I like situational gags. There's a scene in This Life when Ed's dad has just had a one night stand (which Ed will no doubt disapprove of); hiding his activities, dad streaks thru the flat starkers just as others are getting out of bed to go to work. Anna sees him and has an expression like "I haven't even had my coffee yet. But Ok. What's going to happen next?" That makes me smile even now.

Family Guy & The Simpsons are dull.

I dislike someone getting injured, "embarrassment" (Happy Days), anxiety-based, everything going wrong at once or bullying humour (MASH). Jokes that depend on a specific personality fall flat on me. Am bored by slapstick, and never find bodily functions droll. I struggle with puns but I can quite enjoy a perfect Dad joke. Also can enjoy complete un-PC jokes as long as they are witty.

Elton John singing I'm Still Standing in that lockdown concert, in his garden, next to a basketball hoop.

Frasier, Modern Family.

Steve Carrell.

cookiecreammmpie · 01/10/2022 19:19

Taskmaster
Not nowadays, but Never mind the Buzzcocks when it was hosted by Mark Lamarr.

@InNeedOfLaughter I like watching Little Britain and Vicky Pollard... one episode recently where a teacher was talking to Vicky and reminding her that her GCSE exams would be soon so she needed to study... Vicky looked puzzled and replied 'GCS what?'!'

Billy Connelly … “The great thing about Glasgow is that if there’s a nuclear attack it’ll look exactly the same afterwards.”

Billy Connelly, Dave Allen , Monty python films especially life of Brian and Blackadder are some of my absolute favorites

treadcarefully · 02/10/2022 00:49

The Inbetweeners and The Royale Family.

Jknow · 02/10/2022 00:54

My boyfriend. He’s the funniest person I’ve ever met, he’s so quick with his humour.

TV wise probably Gavin and Stacey and a series called Camping by Julia Davis are the funniest things I’ve ever watched.

Machiato2sugarsextrafoam · 02/10/2022 00:57

Michelle wolf is very good.

treadcarefully · 02/10/2022 01:05

Also if you Google 'Irish family trying to get bat out of their kitchen' on YouTube.
Sorry I don't know how to link it.
It's hilarious and no bat was hurt!

Good laugh this morning on ‘Sunday with Laura Kussenberg’ … BBC NEWS got their titling and video presets all out of sync and obliterated the live interview with Liz Truss - and worse … transmission breaks - Laura is very challenging but irritating for viewers - for goodness sake let the Prime Minister speak -
