Why can’t you have a thread about a thread?

I have been on MN for over 11 years and never understood the rule.

About the zombie threads, I guess it depends on the contents. If it's asking advice for his to clean an over for example then resurrecting an old thread should be fine. When it's a thread about someone asking for relationship advice 10 years ago, why resurrect it to put you 2p worth on it? They've either got through the issue or split up.
