To ask what people have against Labour?

I have come across lots of people who, even while admitting that the Conservatives are far from ideal, seem to scrunch their nose up and say 'but, ew, Labour' when talking about politics.

I have to admit I dont understand what it is that people think is so terrible about them and nobody ever cares to elaborate! I always vote for them as I think their principles align pretty closely with my own even if I don't agree with absolutely e everything they stand for.

Could someone please explain what people think is so terrible about them that they would do a worse job at running the country than the Conservatives have done?

Labour aren't doing anything to reassure voters that they will role this back are they. That they will ensure women's sex based rights are upheld. If they get in, they'll take it even further.

So both parties are in thrall to the TWAW brigade ? Especially the one in power who has allowed men into womens prisons etc

Pixiedust1234 · 01/10/2022 18:41

The leader (s) have no backbone. Why haven't they been shouting out and trying to make it better for the rest of us? They have been keeping quiet and rolling over.

Add to that, none of the main parties know what a real woman is, ie without a certain appendage between the legs 🙄

Set the benefit cap at 75% of NMW x 40 hours, and make that permanent and irrevocable. Then when people want benefits to be increased, they demand that wages go up, people working get more so they don't get aggrieved at non-working people on benefits also getting a bit more.

The naivete here is astounding, so much so I can only assume you are blatantly trolling.

Have you seen what happens when working people ask for a pay rise in the UK? What do you think will happen when out of work people ask for a rise? Indeed, how do they even go about that since they don't even have the collective advocacy of a union behind them?

Sonnex · 01/10/2022 18:44

I'd never vote conservative and have previously voted labour. But I never would now as what I have against them, as it's stands today, is their published and vocal stance on identity politics and TWAW which I am vehemently opposed to and think damages women and girls. I can't imagine anything changing anytime soon.

DuckBilledFattypus · 01/10/2022 18:46

It's bad enough as it is. I don't want it to get even worse thanks.

typicalmner · 01/10/2022 18:48

We are arguing over which main party is worse for women’s safety… how bloody shit is this?

BirmaBrite · 01/10/2022 18:53

@typicalmner pretty shit !

roarfeckingroarr · 01/10/2022 18:55

Identity politics.

Believing men can become women and any woman who doesn't want said men in single sex spaces is a bigot fascist.

Instantnoodles · 01/10/2022 18:56

Quincythequince · 01/10/2022 18:04

I will never trust a part who won’t say that they know what a woman is!

They lie and gaslight you o to trying to believe some men are women.

If I can’t trust them on something as fundamental as this, I will never trust them on anything at all.

Completely agree. I won't vote Tory for obvious reasons. Labour lost me for good on TWAW.

BirmaBrite · 01/10/2022 18:57

I guess it boils down to the 'believe what they do not what they say' when it comes down to identity politics and the Conservatives then ?

Challenger5 · 01/10/2022 18:58

Because they are Labour..

Blinky21 · 01/10/2022 19:01

It's simply because that's what they are fed by the media. I don't think that most people are politically engaged. It shocks me that people vote for a candidate without bothering to understand how policy effects them, that's why we have had a succession of Tory govts. Tory policy rarely benefits the majority

Diamondsareforever123 · 01/10/2022 19:01

There's a few people here who need a political education! The Tories have always been the party of the rich and privileged. That's why the labour party came into being - to help the poor with progressive policies. Have a look at previous labour governments' achievements - they will have had a positive impact on your lives. Just vote labour next time round and give them a chance. Socialism isn't a dirty word just because the daily mail says it is. Stop being brainwashed and think about others. I mean have you seen what Librium Liz and Kamikwarsi have done to the economy.... just to give the wealthy more dosh? It couldn't be clearer what the Tories stand for if it punched you in the face! Be human beings not robots!!

BirmaBrite · 01/10/2022 19:03

It would be pointless voting for Labour in this neck of the woods anyway, it would have to be the Lib dems if you wanted the Conservatives out. Where are they in the TWAW debate ?

No chance. I think it is you who needs to politically educate yourself.

mamabear715 · 01/10/2022 19:10

Apart from a usual lack of policies.. Labour voters. So mean & hateful to Conservative voters. No reason for it. Rude & nasty. If you ever want me to vote for your party, stop slagging me off for voting for the opposition!

MargeSampson · 01/10/2022 19:15

I think of labour as the party who like to increase taxes. I see high taxation as a bad thing - if people work hard and get promoted etc they should be allowed to keep that income, tax is like theft.

I may be wrong, I just get the impression that Labour despise the successful. They only seem interested in those on benefits.

Cyw2018 · 01/10/2022 19:17

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 01/10/2022 16:45

Strange how they can 'throw women to the wolves' when they've had no ability to change the law on anything since 2010.

Oh wait, is this another one of the 'the problems right now are the fault of the FUTURE Labour government' lines the media was feeding us last week?

If you look around at the rate of change and the progression of trans rights in other countries over the last decades, having conservatives in power (and also the distraction of Brexit) has had a major protective factor for women's rights in the UK compared to elsewhere, and this is no thanks to the labor opposition who have been pushing hard for a Trudeau style sell out of women.

And I've never voted Tory, so far.

As bad as, if not worse than, Labour.

I think many labour voters aren't politically engaged. Or particularly thoughtful. 🐑And always quick to accuse others of being unintelligent or daily mail readers. Labour never stop to think. It's their downfall and always has been. Having a labour would be like having a bunch of angry toddlers in charge.

Vote for a pary led by someone who goes on national telly and says, with a straight face, "saying only women have a cervix is something that should not be said".? I don't think so, as its a general principle with me not to vote for tin foil hat nutters.

Roughasabadgersbum · 01/10/2022 19:24

Kier starmer.
Angela Raynor
They banned fox hunting.. controversial topic I know , but people had right to choose to participate.
They are appalling rude to all who do not support them.
Basically it's a no from me

Interesting

I live in a very Rory stronghold area and stopped telling people when I was going to vote Labour for exactly the same reason.

I was accused of all sorts.

In fact when I actually needed an MP to stand up for me when I couldn't get a public sector to follow the actual law my AG MP wouldn't help.

The local Labour MP was useless and I reached out to a Lib Dem councillor in a neighbouring area who had an interest in the area and helped me out.

Parties swing between centre and far right or left. I'm a firm believer it's not just a party but the person leading it and their morals that make it a decent party.

I've never known anyone to love a whole manifesto either side of the debate. What you need is to be able to trust the person in charge to deliver the one they voted for.

Johnson broke this trust.

Truss won't even acknowledge it.

For me that's unacceptable. It's not about Labour but about the fact I trust their leader has morals, honesty and integrity.

I never felt that about Corbyn when he lead it.

EngTech · 01/10/2022 19:28

People vote IMHO for who they think is the least worst 😳

Come the GE, Labour will get in and do a better job?

Trouble is, what if they don’t ? 😳😳

I don't have a cervix. I am a woman.

Did he actually explain what he meant?

But I'm very aware that transwoman have invited woman's spaces for a while now and increasingly so.

The Tory's have been in power for 12 years.

This has happened on Tory watch.

Actions speak louder than words.
