We've used £3.30 already. Yesterday we used £5.80

No heating on
Washing machine has been on a quick cycle
2 x showers (total 10 mins?)
1x TV on
Kettle boiled 3x
Usual things plugged in / on standby (fridge/freezer/other TVs etc)
No lights on

Still need to do another wash, 2 small children need a bath (will share), 1 teenager needs a shower, kettle will be on at least another 3/4 times. Dinner to be made.

We can never seem to stick to our 'budget' (who sets that? The company?) unless we're out all day.

How do you manage to stick to your budget ? Seems unmanageable (2ad, 1 teenager, 1 infant school & 1 baby)

We're £400 in credit over the summer but DD has gone from £105 to £291 !

Look at your washing machine instruction leaflet, before you assume a quick wash uses more energy than an eco wash. A friend looked at hers recently for exactly this reason and the quick wash did use less energy.

2X4B523P · 01/10/2022 11:01

Looked when I left home this morning at 9 and it was £2.15

Of that £0.85 would have been standing charges.

Expectnothing · 01/10/2022 11:03

Electric = We've used £1.13 so far which is 1.76kwh

Prepayment meter 😊

Yesterday we used £1.98 in total and we were WFH and Gaming

InMySpareTime · 01/10/2022 11:03

My smart meter is showing £1.04 combined usage so far today, after 3 pots of tea and a load of washing, but most of the consumption is covered by Solar panel generation so our usage is low when it's sunny.

nancydroo · 01/10/2022 11:04

£2.71 with baths, dishwasher and no heating

nannybeach · 01/10/2022 11:06

53p electric, economy 7, emersion heater on an hour, and the kettle. 2 year fix octopus April 2021, 21p day 12p night, can't remember DSC, gas boiler isn't switched on yet. Did all the washing in the week.

LiveInSunshine · 01/10/2022 11:08

I don’t have a smart meter, but we average £4.60 a day

nannybeach · 01/10/2022 11:08

Unless it's very stained whites,(grandkids stay weekly) everything cold quick wash,35 minutes overall.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 01/10/2022 10:45

My smart meter is already at the cost it usually shows when I'm going to bed. No heating on. One very short shower. All plugs than can be switched off are off.

Mine too. Though all I've done so far is boil enough water for a cup of tea.

Beezknees · 01/10/2022 11:15

Meter is on 98p at the moment. 2 showers, boiled the kettle twice, washed the breakfast dishes (don't have a dishwasher). Had the telly on all morning and 2 phones charging. We are 2 people (1 adult 1 teen) living in a 2 bedroom flat, our bills are lower than the average household.

When the heating goes on properly in winter I'm expecting to use around £5 a day.

Expectnothing · 01/10/2022 11:19

Just made 4 cups of tea and the kettle cost 2p to boil.

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 01/10/2022 11:20

£1.27 electric, 1 X kettle boil, 4 items charging, 3 gaming PC's on since 8am, 5 mins of microwave use.

0.46p gas, 2 x showers not heating on.

Hugasauras · 01/10/2022 11:43

We are at £1.56 for electricity. Includes a wash and tumble dry, air fryer breakfast and two cups of tea.

Hugasauras · 01/10/2022 11:44

Oh and £1.12 gas - hot water on for an hour and heating on for an hour and a bit.

Hugasauras · 01/10/2022 11:46

Be aware that sometimes your tariff on your in home display isn't correct as it doesn't always update, so check your £ figures match the KWH usage for your current tariff (or look in settings to see what tariff your IHD is using).

Michellebops · 01/10/2022 11:54

We're at £4 🙈

All that's been on is slow cooker (making soup) dishwasher x1, washing machine x1, shower x 2 and the heating for 45 mins as our hot water didn't work for washing some dishes so we had to boost the water

SpringIntoChaos · 01/10/2022 11:56

84p

I set my own budget on my Smart Meter...you should be able to do this OP. Although that doesn't stop you from going over 🤷‍♀️

I've not showered yet though!

Heating/water has been on for an hour, kettle twice. Used air fryer for 15 minute.

I'm expecting it to start zooming when I put the washer on in a minute and shower later once I've finished clearing out my garage (hence no shower this morning 🤦‍♀️)

I'll come back and update later...see how my 84p has gone up 🤣

Lyricallie · 01/10/2022 12:00

93p for today so far. But we are still on our fixed deal from two years ago. I think we are going to be in for a shock when we finish that deal in in November.

MinervaTerrathorn · 01/10/2022 12:03

No smart meter but last bill was £54, so £1.80 a day. I'm on a fix close to the new cap rates so will be similar until I have heating on.

etulosba · 01/10/2022 12:04

I know we have spent zero on gas, apart from the standing charge, because the gas is currently turned off at the meter.

Savingpeoplehuntingthings · 01/10/2022 12:08

Right now it £1.61
I've done 2 wash loads and 2 people had showers. Tv is on.
yesterday it was £3.30 for the day so will be interesting to see.

MinervaTerrathorn · 01/10/2022 12:12

I think it's more useful to look at a week rather than a day. If I do washing or cook jacket potatoes or something then it's going to be higher on that day but lower on a day I just microwave what I cooked the day before.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 01/10/2022 12:13

My meter is currently showing £1.44

No heating on, but TV been on all morning, kettle boiled once, sauges cooked in air fryer for breakfast. Daily average is usually just over £2 a day. 2 bed bungalow, myself and DD. Usual devices etc. I'm at home all day every day.

Dannexe · 01/10/2022 12:18

£2.97

that’s just electricity though since we have oil heating. American fridge freezer plus chest freezer and wine fridge. Dishwasher has been on once, as has the washing machine. 1x laptop on plus a tv and ds1 is on the ps5. Everhot is on eco mode.

We have been using about £7.50 a day in electricity.

crazy4cats · 01/10/2022 13:10

Testina · 01/10/2022 10:56

Why? Can you tell a difference when it’s done at 30°? Genuinely interested, not being snippy! My stuff comes out clean at 30°.

Our machine doesn't have a 30 setting...it's 40 or 20. I have been doing everything at 40 but tempted now to do them at 20 unless it's a particually dirty load
