Single, no kids . Love my job. Like my weekends but struggling to love it. If you are in my position what do you do? Any little hacks or tricks that help you enjoy it?
Ideas greatly appreciated!

Park Run seems popular!
Volunteer.
Try and make sure you have at least one thing arranged with friends/family. And be pro active about arranging things.

Single for most of my adult life. I've periods where I've felt quite lonely, and times when I've loved it. I think my key to apprecating my weekends has been to take control of what I do during weekends so that I'm never waiting for anyone else to suggest something. I like to have at least one plan for the weekend: an evening plan, or a day plan. If there are no friends to do anything with I've joined various groups to do things: go to lectures, volunteering, going walking. Walking is a great way of moving around, meeting new people without any strings or need to be polite for a long time if you don't want to (you just walk on and speak to someone else!). I'm a member of a few local initiatives to improve my community so sometimes I join spontaneous or planned meetings to go litter picking. You meet so many nice people doing positive things! If something more interesting comes up neither the walking nor the local community things are things I've signed up to so I can just change my mind and do something else.

I also sometimes plan skype calls on weekend evenings with friends who live far away. We may even eat "together".

I also like doing things for myself. I love to go to a book shop on my own to choose a book, or to go for a meal (normally lunchtime) to try out a new restaurant, with a book. I also don't mind cooking for myself, then I can try reeeeally odd combinations :-) But this is kind of dependent on my having one plan, it's harder to appreciate doing everything on your own if there's no variety. (Although sometimes I love having a weekend with no plans and all to myself!)

I love a solo theatre trip. Also gym, swim and sauna, read the paper, watch a box set, drink wine, lunch/brunch with friends.

Try not to spend the whole weekend on your own (although every so often it can be nice to just hibernate if you've had a busy week). Having something planned where you see and speak to people, even if it's just a gym class, is good.

I think it also depends on your age and stage (and finances). In my mid 20s I was happily single and filled my weekends with gym classes and drinks with friends. I'm no longer single but DP works a lot of weekends and nights so I do spend a lot of time alone. I actually quite like my own company though and I'm not the sort of person who always needs to be busy. This weekend I plan to do housework, have a long bath, walk the dog, cook something nice, watch TV and hopefully read a book. I do have drinks planned tomorrow night but even if I didn't I'd be quite happy. I appreciate it's not as enjoyable if you're on your own everyyy weekend.

Are you the sort of person who thrives on routine or do you like to do something different? Do you like your own company or do you prefer to have company?

I'm so jealous. I have two children under 5, I'm exhausted

I feel like I get stuck in a bit of a loop. I look forward to the hibernating cosy idea of a weekend, then by Sunday afternoon I'm feeling a bit lonely. I like the idea of lectures etc. I'm in a bit of a nothing market town so I'll need to get a bit more proactive about whats in the surrounding area . My friends can be a bit useless about plans so I sort of have to rely on my own planning of my own activities but if I got more proactive with that I can probably get some in the diary for later weeks.

Housework and chill on a Saturday
Batch cooking sometimes
Walk the dogs or just go for a walk before I had dogs
Read a lot
Not really a fan of the gym
Get your nails done?
Crafting could be a good hobby. Wreath making is quite easy and hobby craft are quite cheap for the materials and you could also collect bits and pieces on your walk if you go to a park.
Volunteering
I love a good walk round b and m and charity shops also

Some nice ideas here. I think I've become a bit lonely and demotivated

I try to have a balance of busy weekends - visiting friends and family - and chilled ones where I can do what I like! If I’m at home I usually swim or gym, get the paper and make a nice breakfast and enjoy not having to be anywhere. A nice dinner or drinks with a friend later in the day, a bit of life admin. Or just settling in with a good series to binge when the mood takes me! BorrowMyDoggy is great if you like dogs.

I’m married (no kids) and LOVE a solo weekend: parkrun, coffee, papers or magazine, whatever TV I want, cooking, jigsaw. I am lucky to live in London so love to cycle around town and go to all the museums and galleries. Have a drink by the river! I like to have one social thing if DH is away even if just a coffe with friends. Oh and I love charity shops. Last weekend I did a volunteer day at a vineyard picking the grapes for pressing!

I'm single. I'm not wanting that to change as I have lots of friends and enjoy activities like walking and cycling.

If I'm by myself all day, I often go out to the local Starbucks. I sit in the car and either read a book or have a look on social media, Mumsnet.

I really need to get out and see other people around me. I find it very relaxing.

I'm single, 50s, been on my own for nearly 20 years. I have a hugely busy, stressful job...so my weekends are rarely anything more than catching up on housework, and doing more 'work-work' to be honest 🤷‍♀️

I am genuinely stumped with what people do with their time when they have 'spare/leisure' time. No idea what I'll do when I retire...I'll be lost 🤣 Probably sleep for a month then go travelling 🙌🏼

I'm craving a weekend to wear my new velour lounge track suit. I like the feel of it of I know it looks cheap as fuck. It's literally for my pleasure 😇 it's just from Asda.

It's sitting on a hangar waiting for a weekend on my own. With my new book. One last secret by Adele parks. A nice bottle of wine, some Chinese starters and some shit Netflix.

I will ruin all this by wishing my DH and dd were with me. Only for five minutes though haha.
