AIBU to not have the 4th covid jab ?

clovid · 29/09/2022 21:04

I've had all my covid vaccines up to date. I also had covid a few months ago.. I think I can get the next vaccine too if I want it. I was a bit surprised to be invited again..

Covid was just like a cold for me.

I'm 35, have MS ( not on any medication and I don't really have any symptoms apart from fatigue ). So no disability from it, no trouble walking or anything in my body- except fatigue.

I don't really want to have another vaccine. Is that unreasonable ?

OP posts:
Eightiesgirl · 01/10/2022 13:11

@Blaise19 I've had all 3 vaccines, am by no means an anti vaxxer and am currently considering going for the 4th but read your post with interest. I, too, have recently suffered from eye problems and sinusitis for the first time in my life. Are you saying these could be connected to the Covid vaccination?

Pericombobulations · 01/10/2022 13:19

I have MS, and my consultant was very in favour of her patients and their carers having the vacinations. To the point that my DH hadnt had his booster when we saw her, and she talked him into getting it before we left the hospital as they were offering walkins on our way out.

We have both since had Covid, and I had anti-virals to reduce my risk of long term complications, and whilst I struggle with post Covid fatigure (on top of my MS fatigue which is a joy NOT) it could have been a lot worse.

I have my 4th booked in 2 weeks, because why would you not have something to reduce your chances of long term damage. As you are more likely to have damage from Covid than the vacination.

And reading the OP's posts, your risk of more scaring is greater after pregnancy and birth as during pregnancy the MS damage is reduced and after the birth I have seen many people report relapses. And even if you dont relapse, you are very likely to have more damage done even if you dont feel it.

I say that as someone who has had only one clear relapse but after my MRI my spinal column lit up like a Christmas Tree so the damage was repeatedly done without the relapses.

Blaise19 · 01/10/2022 13:20

@Eightiesgirl I raised the possibility with my GP, expecting (hoping, in a way) to be dismissed, but she said that she thought it was most likely the vaccine, and my dentist and my optician (both sensible people!) have said the same thing....

Eightiesgirl · 01/10/2022 13:45

@Blaise19 thanks for the reply and that information. It's certainly given me something to think about.

I think they are not understanding the difference between live vaccines (which can trigger autoimmune disease) and non live vaccines such as the covid vaccine though.

I've had the first 2 jabs but no boosters, it's personal choice. If you don't want to have it then don't.

To the people who love to belittle others posts, I have no vested interest in what your opinions are as you do mine.
However if it's in AIBU then people are free to comment.
You don't have to look at Instagram. And to the people who wrongly assume that I take my medical advice from Instagram, you are aware that MN is social media too?
So why take advice from here.
I'm in Australia and most people have absolutely no idea what it's been like here over the last year.
It was mandatory and if you didn't comply, you lost your job.
Unvaxxed we're not allowed to go into shops or cafes etc without showing a vax passport.
Most have no idea how shit it was to lose your entire career over this.
Long term police, nurses, teachers etc.
We now have a national shortage as the mandates are still in effect.
So you can put your laughing emojis but maybe consider another people's view before being blatantly patronising.

My total sympathy and empathy for that nightmare, if ever I knew my fellow man was a useless piece of shit it was lockdown, Sure sorted the wheat from the chaff.

You probably just didn't get a very big dose of COVID and probably weren't very infectious either. I think studies have shown that people with only a mild infection are more likely to get reinfected compared with those who had more symptoms.

I had super thick red lines on the LFTs that I did.. and I passed the infection on to someone who was too sick to even work from home. I felt awful as her previous infection saw her in hospital with clots.
Covid seems to be random though..and I guess I was lucky.

What state do you reside in? In most states now, you don't require your vax passport to enter shops/restaurants. In NSW, even the mandatory isolation period for those infected has been completed removed. So, while vaccination requirements for some sectors remain tight, I think the payoff speaks for itself. You're painting a picture of a police state; it doesn't exist.

Three health professionals told you these in-no-way-related medical issues could related to the vaccine?

I did have an inflamed toe two days after one of my vaccinations. Should I claim that?

I normally don’t engage on Covid posts for my own mental health but I just couldn’t let your post go.
The picture of a police state doesn’t exist? The rubber bullets say otherwise, I’ll leave it there.
Also mandatory isolation finishes for the whole of Australia on October 14 and was agreed unanimously by all of the cabinet, the fact that you thought it was only NSW ending it shows how uninformed you are about Covid policy and your posts should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism.

MrsMorrisey · 02/10/2022 03:39

Dishhh sorry a apostrophe appeared in we're, it was meant be be were not allowed. I'm in NSW.
And so everyone can stick their boot in even more, I was one of those nurses fired.

Madwife123 · 02/10/2022 03:42

I had my 4th and now I’ve been called for a 5th! That’s it for me, I’m not willing to have hundreds and hundreds of boosters when the only time I caught it was after I’ve had 3 vaccines so they don’t seem particularly effective.

MrsMorrisey · 02/10/2022 03:43
  • we were not allowed. 🤦‍♀️ Vax passports have been scrapped.

Sorry - I didn't research the rules and regulations and all the states and territories before posting. I live in NSW so am familiar with the regulations affecting me. Re: the police state - when was that? A year or two ago? In Victoria when there were violent protests? I'm fairly familiar with those as my DD lives in Melbourne as was threatened by some of those idiots when just walking home. (I'll say again: there isn't a police state. This is a lie perpetuated by right-wing media.)

I'm sorry you were fired. But if you working with vulnerable people, vaccination is clearly the preferred option. If you are angry about that, healthcare isn't for you.

Ah Thankyou Dishh maybe I should have consulted you before my four years of university. Clearly you have all the answers. At least I don't have to pay back my fees.

Please stop spreading misinformation, everything you have stated is incorrect as shown by your numerous question marks and your post should be taken down for being factually incorrect.
The fact that you admit you did not research rules and regulations before posting shows how you are knowingly spreading disinformation/ misinformation, what if people read your post and follow your ill advice? Very dangerous indeed!

MrsMorrisey · 02/10/2022 04:41

Lockdown seriously messed up loads of people in Vic, it may not have bothered you but the fallout from isolation is quite noticeable , especially with young people.
That didn't affect me because I don't live there, it doesn't mean I don't care about the amount of self harm and suicides among young people.
My regional NSW town was locked down when we had no cases, then loads of people got Covid after mass vaccination and everything was open with no restrictions just 7 day isolation if positive.
It made no sense.
There were no Covid cases in my hospital until November, two months after the vaccination deadline. By then everyone was vaxxed.
I was perfectly fine to work as a nurse up to September 30. After that I was told I'd be fined $11,000 if I entered the building.
Not a police state?!?

What is "dangerous" about my post? There was no advice in it at all. All I said was there no longer any mandatory isolation period in NSW, and you corrected me and said there is no isolation period anywhere in Australia. So how could it be dangerous?

Everything I've stated re: the police state is factual. Not everyone will agree with it, though. Question marks can indicate rhetorical questions, not actual questions, you know.

Did you read the part where I wrote that my DD lives there? She was holed up in a small college room for months at a time. Her mental health suffered terribly. So yes, I'm fully aware of this.

My regional NSW town was locked down when we had no cases, then loads of people got Covid after mass vaccination and everything was open with no restrictions just 7 day isolation if positive.

You seem to be conflating a few things here. Are you suggesting vaccinations caused the Covid outbreak or the fact that everything was open with no restrictions?

There were no Covid cases in my hospital until November, two months after the vaccination deadline. By then everyone was vaxxed.I was perfectly fine to work as a nurse up to September 30. After that I was told I'd be fined $11,000 if I entered the building. Not a police state?!?

Yep. Not a police state. If you really lived in one, you'd know.

Don't they say generally it's supposed to be milder if / when you get it again ?

That isn’t true - my dd (18) no underlying conditions had no symptoms apart from loss of smell the first time - second time truly floored her. DH was really ill both times.
