Vaping

I work in a school and, like every school, vaping is rife. Parents seem to see it as a healthier alternative to smoking and are almost encouraging it. We have no guidance really on understanding it. Is it unhealthy? I don't even know how you go about getting vapes. Do you buy the vape pen and the liquid separately? Aibu to think they are as bad as smoking? Feel out of touch with the whole thing.

I say this as someone who used to smoke heavily, and replaced it by vaping, I can not understand why anyone would take it up if they didn’t smoke? But then…why did we take up smoking back in the day? Peer pressure and to look mature I guess.

Hi I'm a reporter at Sky News - I'm working on a piece about vaping, including how illicit vapes (that don't meet UK regulation) are getting into the hands of children. I'm trying to speak to teenagers who vape - I wondered if anyone has a child who could be up for speaking to me. My email address is becky.cotterill[@]sky.uk

Thanks
Becky

I think there is a lot of stuff in vapes that we just don't know yet - the heavy metals used in the electric plates scares me the most.
