House deposit

I have sold my house (bought with sister) and will be getting 40k, so I will use this amount as a deposit for a new home with my DD, he only has 15k.

should I only put 15k towards deposit, or my 40k?

My gut reaction would be the 40K but get it all detailed legally so that if things ever go pear shaped, you get your investment back. I'm sure people on here who are wiser than I / are solicitors, & will put you right!

Well you'd get a bigger house with a 55k deposit than you would with 30k. Or need a smaller mortgage on the same sized house.

Put it all in but have your percentage ringfenced .

I'd put in the 40k and have a declaration of trust written up

Get a deed of trust to say that if you break up and sell the house, you get your 40k back.
