Are we nuts to consider this?

Dh and I are thinking about leasing a small hotel.
We do have experience in tourism and hospitality. We know the hotel and area well and have had our eye on the lease coming up for a few years now.

Am I being unreasonable to consider this due to the economic crisis?

You are not being unreasonable. Take a chance on your dream.

I think if you've done your homework and you think the hotel won't get too big for you to manage, go for it.

It sounds like something you're both experienced in the hospitality industry. Would you be running it or get people in to do that for you?

Thank you @LookItsMeAgain it's a small ten bedroom hotel. It would be myself and dh who would run it, maybe with our adult son who also has experience.

I think it would be a great adventure together. You already know hotel hours never end. There is presumably enough rooms for you to live in too. You could grow it and add value by offering evening meals to others too.

The person who has been leasing it has basically ran it into the ground. The potential it has is very good.

We were thinking about evening meals and lunches. My head is bursting with ideas on the marketing side of things.

The hotels and room are fine. They just need a few homely finishing touches and new linen, towels.

The restaurant part needs cheap plastic signs removed.

So it wouldn't cost much and we could do everything ourselves to get it looking good again.

We would do the re branding, website and marketing ourselves.
