Fleece bedding
PollyPaintsFlowers · 27/09/2022 11:54
What are people's general thoughts on fleece bedding? Am I being unreasonable thinking it's going to lead to eight hours of inhaling dust and plastic fibres?
Am I being unreasonable?

I love mine. Never been so warm in my life! I like the windows open at night all year round and no heating. Fleece bedding is perfect 😊

I love my fleece bedding. It's so warm and snuggly. Although I use a regular pillow case because I prefer my face to be cool.
10HailMarys · 27/09/2022 12:02
Fleece? You mean like the man-made fabric that a fleece jacket is made out of?! That sounds absolutely horrible to me, personally. I have zero concerns about inhaling plastic fibres but the thought of something as static and sweaty as that next to my skin in bed all night is really making me cringe.
Brushed cotton bedding is my favourite in winter. If I was really freezing I'd put a nice soft throw/blanket over the top of the duvet, maybe?
butterfliedtwo · 27/09/2022 12:02
I've never heard of this. I'll look it up, sounds like something I'd love.

I love mine. It’s like being hugged by a giant, soft teddy bear.
The cat gets really excited when he sees it brought out too.

Sounds sweaty. I like a nice cotton duvet with knitted throw over the top.

That’s how my kids describe it - fantastic stuff. Like falling asleep in the arms of a kitten.

As an American, it was normal to pull out the fleece bedding when I was growing up.
I have fleece bedding for the kids' beds. It really makes a difference because you're not getting into cold sheets. It's been nothing but a good thing in my own experience.
I rely on my sturdy ol' mattress warmer in my own bed.
DappledThings · 27/09/2022 12:08
I might get fleecey sheets for the DC as they are still small. It just looks really sweaty for an adult.

Waiting for our teddy bear fleece bedding to be delivered today! God bless Amazon prime! I chose a superking set and a double with extra fitted sheets to try, I decided to go for a mid range set as I wasnt sure if we would get on with it and for all of it it was so cheap coming it at just under 72,00, I know my dd 10 yrs will love it for her new big bed however I am not sure I will,I like the idea but not sure so tonight we will see!!

The best fleece sets are Cozee Home from QVC. These are super cozy and don't flatter or bobble like the version I got from Dunelm.
Getting into a bed that already feels warm is the best thing and you don't need an electric blanket with them.
I've just got the velvetsoft duvet set from Cozee Home and it really feels like thick velvet, it's amazing.
Silent night do a good version too but Cozee Home is the best.
Icanstillrecallourlastsummer · 27/09/2022 12:20
Fleece makes me skin crawl. I could absolutely not sleep in what is essentially fluffy plastic. Natural fibers which allow moisture to move away from the skin are 100% my preference for all my bedding.

I'll look these up - I looked at Amazon just now but it's great to have some other brands to research. Thanks for this post.
I'm thinking maybe it's something to wish for at Christmas, depending on the price.

I couldn’t. I’d get sweaty.
I’ve ordered a regular 15 tog duvet fibre filled. Faux fur XL throw (and a bed spread and electric blanket we already had.)

I've got a teddy bear fleece set for Dd from Dunelm and a bottom sheet as Dh is always freezing. I run hot so plain old cotton is fine by me. The fleece will mean I sleep without covers a lot.
Sunnyqueen · 27/09/2022 12:47
Omg they are lush! Still not quite cold enough to get mine on but its nearly time!
fernz · 27/09/2022 12:51
I prefer brushed cotton with an extra blanket and a hot water bottle when it's really cold. Fleece blankets and clothing always feel soft initially but after a couple of washes they are just staticy and no longer soft, at least in my experience, so wouldn't like them as bedding.
hiredandsqueak · 27/09/2022 12:51
I bought some for dd and ds who really feel the cold and they love it. It would kill me as I'm always too hot in bed as it is.
Brokendaughter · 27/09/2022 13:12
I buy a new cheap fleece sheet every year for each bed.
I actually put them on last weekend as the weather has turned cold.
I don't find them sweaty.
By Spring the fleece has worn away to almost nothing & it's only fit for the bin, but in the winter it's amazingly cosy to sleep on, never feels cold even if you don't use a heated under blanket & saves me a fortune in the amount of time I have the heating on, even on the coldest days.
The fleece duvet covers & pillowcases I get a few years out of (on year 4 this year) although they are never quite as soft as when new after the first year, but the sheets don't last - have tried expensive ones & cheap ones they all wear the same for me.
gogohmm · 27/09/2022 13:16
Really - guessing none of you are 50! I need cool cotton these days. The 7.5 tog duvet is plenty. House is double glazed and insulated though. I have my own personal haywire central heating system, I'm running hot
DahliaMacNamara · 27/09/2022 13:19
I like them, but only if I'm sleeping by myself. It gets far too hot in there if you're sharing the bed. It's still a bit early in the season for me to switch just yet.
TwoleftUggs · 27/09/2022 13:21
Well wearing fleece makes me really static so I would probably spend all night crackling and then set fire to myself.
