Really - guessing none of you are 50! I need cool cotton these days. The 7.5 tog duvet is plenty. House is double glazed and insulated though. I have my own personal haywire central heating system, I'm running hot
Oh bless you !Over 50 here and out the other side ,all done and dusted,,hang on in there !x

I'm 53. Always cold. Love my fleece bedding.

Fleece makes me skin crawl. I could absolutely not sleep in what is essentially fluffy plastic. Natural fibers which allow moisture to move away from the skin are 100% my preference for all my bedding.
I feel the same way. I love my Egyptian cotton and linen bedding sets but my eldest dc got themselves a fleece bedset from Next and now my youngest dc wants a set too. In the winter I've a lush heavy velvet throw, also from Next, that goes over my bed and that's enough for me

The best fleece sets are Cozee Home from QVC. These are super cozy and don't flatter or bobble like the version I got from Dunelm.
Getting into a bed that already feels warm is the best thing and you don't need an electric blanket with them.
I've just got the velvetsoft duvet set from Cozee Home and it really feels like thick velvet, it's amazing.
Silent night do a good version too but Cozee Home is the best.
It's not for me but if I end up getting a fleece set for my dc I'll check out Cozee Home, thanks for the recommendation

I have brushed cotton for autumn/spring, and teddy fleece for winter (no heating at night, windows always cracked open). Love them both. The only downside of the fleece is only seeing the cats when they want food as they move onto the bed for 23.5 hours per day as soon as those covers are on.
As per PP the sheets don't last sadly and I won't replace the ones that have worn badly as that feels like good money after bad, but the duvet covers are going strong and like new after years.

I thought about getting some but my dog sleeps in my bed she's not allowed to but every morning there she is so I wash my sheets more often than most and the thought of washing and drying them put me off, so I bought a 'Teddy' onesie and wear it inside out :-)

I bought some from M & S, a couple of years ago. Fitted sheets and covers. It's lovely and warm and makes all the difference when the weather is really cold (along with a hot water bottle). Though my skin doesn't like the pillows and I can't sleep on those.
Apparently you can buy fur (fake obviously) duvet covers also, but I'm not sure about that.

All those saying they're great: have you washed them yet??
My kids loved theirs at first, but in a few days the nap on the sheets compressed a bit, just where each kid was lying, and then on the first wash, that area sort of felted. The nap clumped together, and then - horror - in the clumps you can see trapped specks of fluff - i.e., the stuff you'd want to wash out. The duvet covers are fine though.

That is a problem I've found with the sheets. I gently brushed with an old flat tangle brush. I'd love to hear of any better solutions.

Stayed with someone who had this on all their beds. It was the most uncomfortable, sweaty night’s sleep I’ve ever had. Got a horrible headache because of being too hot too!
yes, put more blankets on the bed. I’ve got cotton sheets, winter weight duvet and an eiderdown thing on top. Hot water bottles in the actual bed if it’s really chilly. But sorry, I think fleece bedding is the actual pits.
