To give up antidepressants?

I’m on day 11. Can’t do it anymore. Feeling anxious and full of rage. I’m not sleeping well either. Have a horrible headache and sore dry eyes. Living with Inlaws and it’s hell being on these and having to contain my emotions. I lost it on MIL this morning.

I will try again but once we move into our new home in a few months. Please can I get some advice and support? My doctor is impossible to make an appointment with, don’t know what to do

Poor you! They normally take a good couple of weeks to kick in. Hope you feel better

Some anti depressants agree with you and some don’t. I had to go through 4 before I found one that helped with my OCD, which turned out to be an old tricyclic rather than the newer SSRIs.

Fluoxetine was absolute hell for me.

Go back to the doctors and talk to them about coming off sertraline and trying a different one. Don’t crash off these types of drugs, it can be dangerous.

@SparklePopRampage does that happen to be Mirtazapine?
I had the same thing, fluoxetine was a no no for me, just didn't work!
Mirrazapine has been great for me x

I'd give it a few more days OP.

@Janie94 think that's a tetracyclic.

50mg is nothing. But at first it takes a while to get in tour system.

Did you have those symptoms before you took it?

Yabu

It takes time to work properly, if you stop now it will be harder to start back up again

Keep strong and keep going. It will be worth it in the end Flowers

@Janie94 clomipramine! Although my friend with OCD and BDD works well with mirtazapine.

Clomipramine is actually the best drug for OCD in clinical trials, but the newer SSRIs have less side effects generally. (I have OCD and comorbid depression). - I will say I think it’s important to have therapy and medication, that’s the best combo generally rather than just medication on its own.

I would be careful with sticking with it if it’s making you feel unwell. I only lasted about 2 weeks on fluoxetine before I had to stop, I didn’t know what time of day it was on that medication and wasn’t eating or keeping any type of routine, it really didn’t agree with me.

It might just not be the one for you, yes you might get side effects but if it’s making you feel that bad it’s worth switching, they are all different.

The thing which makes it harder is I’m living with Inlaws. It was the wrong time to start in hindsight. I had prepared myself for the side affects but I could not even see the toad this morning as my eyes are blurry. I haven’t told them I’m taking them as we’re not close and they’re judgemental.

The side effects won't disappear straight away if you just stop taking them. Does your GP have one of those online forms to fill in?

I’m on sertraline. Took 25mg first week now on 50mg

Give it a little bit longer, maybe just 2 weeks.

Sending you love OP Flowers

I did wonder about the toad 🤭

It’s tricky with ADs, I would only say that I was climbing the walls when they put me on Fluoxetine (similarly an SSRI) - I had the rage already but got much worse. I ended up in hospital and was put on Venlafaxine, which suited me much better. If you decide it’s not for you, please reduce to 25mg before stopping completely: don’t underestimate these drugs! As a warning though, I’ve been on a few different ADs over the years, and the first few of weeks are always very tough.

Tak to your Dr or another Dr
you were given ADs for a reason(s) get advice before you stop taking them or could do you more harm than good.
I don’t sleep and I was prescribed Mirtazapine which help me settle at night. Might be work talking to your Dr of you aren’t sleeping
