Just taken DS 10 for his violin lesson at teachers house. I’m waiting outside, there’s a teenager blatantly smoking a joint out of the upstairs window, I’m fuming. Shall I bang on the door and demand to take him home?

You can of course. I hardly think that his parent is aware. The fact that he is doing it out of the window suggests he knows his parent would not allow it. How is your child at risk from being in this house unless you believe his teacher is also using drugs around him??

CoolieLoachie · 26/09/2022 18:35

But she must be aware as it stinks. She’s a fab teacher but I can’t accept that she allows drugs to be used. 😡

How do you know she accepts that drugs are used?
Is the upstairs pet of the teachers home or another flat?

Theimpossiblegirl · 26/09/2022 20:07

I hope you calmed down and dealt with the situation rationally. She needs to know, you don't need to go in guns blazing.

ladygindiva · 26/09/2022 20:07

Chill. If she's a fab teacher and I assume you consider him safe in her care then wtf.

Wilkolampshade · 26/09/2022 20:09

Maybe he needs it to get through an evening of violin beginners....
KIDDING

Hmm.

No, I think the sensible thing to do would be to message the teacher after you get home - maybe tomorrow.

Sunnyqueen · 26/09/2022 20:28

Jeeeez 😳 sounds like you could do with a bit of the devil's lettuce yourself 😂

I am very anti drugs but I also have a teenage son and am aware that sometimes things are more complicated and need careful handling.

I wouldn't be happy at weed being smoked in the house where my child was having lessons but it could be the lesser of two evils at this particular moment in time.

properdoughnut · 28/09/2022 10:28

I'd mention it after the lesson via message or email and give your notice period.

Salamander44 · 28/09/2022 10:41

This is absolutely not OK - it’s one thing (and her business) if she doesn’t have someone else’s child in the house, but quite another (and very much your business) if she does. Totally irresponsible. If she’s that good a teacher I’d email her and ask for an assurance that it won’t happen again. Otherwise get rid!
