To think DF had another stroke?

My DF is 80 and very proud and very difficult. The family suspect he has the beginning of dementia and he already has had a few mini strokes.

Last week he was returning from visiting his brother by public transport and went AWOL in the middle of the town. My DS works there and he rang her, but she said he sounded confused about where he was and couldn't name the street he was on. Normally he knows every street in the town. She said he also sounded a bit slurred. She got out of work and met him and brought him home on the bus but reported to our DM that he was shuffling a bit. I'm furious with her for not calling for an ambulance but by the time DM told me all this it was 2 days later and she said DF "seemed fine".

DF of course is insisting he was never lost and he's grand. AIBU to think he's had a mild stroke and needs checking even a few days later?

YANBU it is important he is seen ASAP.

YANBU, vascular dementia is often identified by lots of little infarcts.
See if you can get him to his GP.

Sounds very much like my DF who had vascular dementia. He certainly needs to be seen by his GP but I’m not sure an ambulance would have achieved anything.

Tough times, I’m sorry.
