What annoys me much much more is when posters only put half their opening sentence in the title. Stop it!

Yes, it’s annoying and I wouldn’t do it. Also when I am replying to any quote, if it contains several different points and I am only replying to one, I just copy/paste the point I am replying to, so people aren’t having to wade through a load of irrelevant stuff. Did that a few days ago and some patronising poster took it upon themselves to explain to me how to use the quote facility. That went well.

Me too when posters are not responding to the op.
THEN the quote facility is great. Quoting the op, especially when it's very long, totally pointless and annoying.

BTW, I knew this thread would be filled by people's thinking they were totes hilaire to quote the op in their responses <yawns>

I don't need to know that you are "placemarking". It doesn't need to be announced. I don't care. Post after post of "placemarking" just clogs up threads.

There is a bookmark function to take you to where you were in the thread, and there is a watch this thread option so that you can easily get back to any threads that are of interest (you don't need to have commented on the thread). It will even tell you how many new posts there have been since you bookmarked.

Uhm yes YABU. I’m ranting about it on this thread where it’s literally the topic of conversation! Should we all just not discuss anything in case it clutters up the thread?

Otherwise you’re entitled to any opinion you hold on what annoys you. Doesn’t bother me at all!

How does this work, Ive never found it to work?

Ive never been able to get back to where I last was on a thread, it only every shows me the last 2 most recent posts on 'threads Im on'. Then I have to try to work out where I was

(All said in a convivial way, just to be clear! It’s saturday, I’ve just made soup and cheese toasties for lunch - smells wonderful and life is good!! I’m not literally raging about this... )

Gives me the rage when, in a pages long thread, posters say “xposter, I agree with you”. without quoting anything.

It annoys me when people use vague titles like to get the rage when other posters when there is room to put a clear title.

@Anamechangeisasgoodasarest sometimes my "im watching" is glitchy and doesn't always work. Thats fine if its a general thread and doesn't really matter if I don't find it again but when it has valuable information then sometimes posting is the only way. Although I agree they could be slightly more imaginative than saying "placemarking"

I don't use MN on my phone and hadn't really thought about the fact that not all of the same options are available/easy to find but it still fucking annoys me
