AIBU? Surely it's not hard to check check what you've typed before you post. Just press preview and check for pisstakes before you

ARGGH!!!!!!!!!! No matter how much I check my post, before submitting it, like sometimes 7 or 8 times of reading it over, around one in five or so of my posts - espeiclly longer ones - have an error that I see after it's been posted ... GRRRR! I wish mumsnet would pllllllllleeeeeeease get an edit button.

I know it's a light hearted jokey thread btw! Grin

Always4Brenner · 23/09/2022 23:36

My eyes let me down though I try to check but mistakes happen.

Goodness me, it’s embarrassing how people miss the most obvious jokes/piss takes & cone on all serious😂

Mumsnet is definitely 50/50 uptight/lighthearted people!

The last sentence was a poor attempt at a joke but the actual question was serious I assume?! So to answer, I use the app so no preview option. I'm generally speedily typing whilst doing something else too, especially later replies on posts - no time to check. Some autocorrects are quite subtle and go unnoticed when you aren't paying full attention. It's easy to hit the post button by accident on a touch screen device. Sometimes you correct a word and autocorrect changes it back again, this might go unnoticed or by the third time you decide it can just bloody well stay like that ...

Not 50/50. 73/27 at the moment 😂

No harm to you op but I've arthritis in my hands. I'm clumsy. It makes my fine motor function poor.

What's hilarious about that?

Also if you make a mistake just ride it out. Don’t then fill up the thread with a million posts like:

*their not there
*you’re not your
*avocado not advocate

etc etc.

It’s so boring.

Yes! Followed by: “FFS, autocorrect. Sorry, everyone.” Shut up! Nobody cares!

worriedatthistime · 24/09/2022 06:22

Someones bored

Sestriere · 24/09/2022 06:29

It’s a wind up, read the OP with its lack of a full stop and the “check check”. Finally, the last sentence isn’t even finished.

DoubleBuggyDriver · 24/09/2022 06:32

The joke went right over my head until I read the comments

RudsyFarmer · 24/09/2022 06:32

I know the answer to this!!!! It’s because it’s such a fast moving site they know if they proof read their post will end up on page 18 and fail to be relevant anymore. If the site offered an edit button thus problem would cease to be a problem.

liveforsummer · 24/09/2022 06:35

People do though - the grammar police have a full time job on mumsnet and you'll always get one who smugly corrects it if the poster does not 😆. I'm with you though I just own it and Ignore the pedants

Yes and this. Then you have to put up with all the comments telling you to read the thread as your question has already been answered. Well it hadn't when I started typing 😆
