Is it just me that loves autumn so we can wear above knee skirts with opaques and boots.

I can't wait until it's cooler!

Do others love the same?

There’s like a 2 week sweet spot when it’s all crunchy leaves and skirts and knee boots, and then into the cold blustery dark.

Worriedaboutethics · 22/09/2022 03:15

@TirisfalPumpkin

hopefully longer

You’re not alone. I did a little happy dance when I put my jumper on yesterday.

Autumnisclose · 22/09/2022 05:00

Yes indeed. I love Autumn, can't stand sweaty summer. I got very excited to shut the curtain over my front door last night. (A winter habit to prevent draught)

onlythreenow · 22/09/2022 05:24

Where I live it's spring - and I can't wait to get into summer clothes. They are just so much easier to wear, and I'm longing to be able to ditch tights. Won't be long now Smile Autumn is actually my favourite time of year, but our autumns can be warm until the end of May in a good year.

No hate it. Could live permanently in Spring and Summer.

No wonder ppl move to the Canaries and Spain.

PoivronCochon · 22/09/2022 14:41

I love, love, love Autumn! Actually I love all the seasons, but Autumn might be my favourite. (I say that no matter what season it is, except Spring which I find a bit in-betweeny.)

The colours, the cold mornings and evenings, the mist, the brambles, the celebrations, the crumbles. Kids up here get a fortnight off school in October so I love that too. I love the light in the early evening, when the kids are playing outside, eking out every last ounce of daylight and then ushering them in to a cosy kitchen.

tuvamoodyson · 22/09/2022 14:58

I love autumn/winter!

JoWawa · 22/09/2022 15:12

I hate autumn with the nights drawing in. When I worked the first return to home after the clocks changed always got me down. It's also when our son died.

andtheweedonkey · 22/09/2022 15:13

I'm wrapped in a fleecy blanket not the velcro one the electrician has and have just put the heating on.

My trees have finally gone a lovely golden colour - except the red acers, they're sticking to red for now.

andtheweedonkey · 22/09/2022 15:14

...and I've fished out the fairy lights for the conservatory.

They're cheaper to run than a lamp in the hallway.

Boxowine · 22/09/2022 15:19

Sweater weather!

MaybeIWillFuckOffThen · 22/09/2022 15:25

I love it. Was trying to imagine the perfect autumn day yesterday so I could plan it for a weekend soon! I'm thinking the following will come into play:

Boots, tights, woolly jumpers
A walk in the woods with the kids
Homemade vegetable soup with a hunk of homemade, warm from the oven bread
Bake a cake/Make a dried flower arrangement or wreath for the door/Halloween crafting
Read a book by the fire
Another walk through the neighbourhood to the park in the early evening to smell that delicious nexus of wet leaves/cold air/woodsmoke as the light dissappears, and see the lights in people's windows
Mulled cider after the children are in bed :)

Anyone got anything to add to my list?

lovely what colour ?

Green with pink writing. One of my faves!

abovedecknotbelow · 22/09/2022 16:15

Autumn is my favourite time of year but I HATE this bit, its still too warm / humid during the day, I never know what to wear. I'm in shorts and a hoodie today. When it's cold enough to lose the flip flops I'll be happier.

BogRollBOGOF · 22/09/2022 16:21

I like summer and like the ease of summer clothes. Life's easier to sling on some sandals, and not add extra layers on top of a t-shirt.

Autumn can be beautiful, but it gradually deteriorates into the damp, grey, dark of winter and there's just far too much of winter. September and October are fine but November is surplus to requirements.

The novelty of jumpers wears off rapidly.
Tights are annoying because the texture seems to velcro to the carpet and you either have to get changed or wear the bulk of socks on top.

There's just too much of the colder months, 6 of them in a good year and up to 9 in a crap year and they quickly become laborious.

jennakong · 22/09/2022 16:22

Last year where I am (Northern Ireland, and the very far north of it) it was warm until November, and the grass needed cutting until then. Very warm now too in late September. We had a cold spring, but as far as I can see, autumn seems to have been discontinued. I find it depressing too - I do like a frost.

10HailMarys · 22/09/2022 16:25

My absolute favourite autumn weather is when it's sunny, but also cold and misty in the mornings. I get quite excited when the nights draw in.

I also much, much prefer running in colder weather. My best runs are always when it's cold and pitch black.

Worriedaboutethics · 23/09/2022 04:57

@10HailMarys

agreee fully
