Concerns re: possible ectopic pregnancy

I posted a couple of weeks ago about an excruciating pain I'd had in my belly/bum (don't know how to link on my phone-sorry). The pain was blinding and I almost passed out. Since then I've had intermittent aches and lots of brown blood that I have put down to my mirena coil 'wearing off' as I'm coming up to 5 years next month.

Ive been up since 2am with horrible diarrhoea and vomiting - the worst I've ever had and I just have this feeling of foreboding.

DH has gone to work and taken kids to early breakfast club. I've ordered a pregnancy test on Deliveroo that will arrive in about 15 mins. I'm really scared it's an ectopic pregnancy.

IABVU to post here for traffic but don't have anyone in real life I can share it with without causing worry.

First thing you need to do is ring the doctor and try to get a priority appointment today.
There are many things it could be, many of them dangerous. It could be an abscess for example. I don’t think doing a pregnancy test is a priority, it’s getting to a doctor.

If the test is positive then get on to your gp and ask for an appointment at the early pregnancy unit for a scan.

Ectopic pregnancy blood is often said to be like prune juice btw

Test is negative. Thanks for not making me feel stupid. Will book a GP appointment about all the symptoms!

If you suspect ectopic then someone in real life needs to know and at least be checking on you. If you have an ectopic rupture you could pass out, how long might it be until someone realised? I don't mean to frighten you, this happened to a tv presenter but luckily her producer or crew found her. I didn't know I had an ectopic until it had ruptured but I was with others. Flowers

I mean this kindly but you’d be better off getting a doctor’s appointment as soon as possible rather than ordering pregnancy tests. Quite often ectopic pregnancies don’t show on tests.

Either way it’s worth getting all those symptoms checked out. And yes your DH needs to be checking up on you regularly.

Hey, I hope you are ok. I’d get a blood test / scan to rule out ectopic pregnancy asap.

I had abdominal symptoms with mine and definitely a sense of foreboding.

Take care Flowers

Did you test?

Leinlondon · 20/09/2022 14:44

Not to worry you but what you have described are exactly the symptoms I had when I had an ectopic - please go in and insist on being seen/scanned - and a negative pregnancy test doesn’t necessarily mean it isn’t an ectopic pregnancy as if it is growing outside of the womb then it may not be growing at a rate sufficient to give off enough hormones to be picked up by a home pregnancy test.
Despite going to the doctors several times with these symptoms they assumed it may be a miscarriage until my tube burst and I was rushed in for emergency surgery. Please do take this seriously and don’t feel shy about insisting, it can be life threatening if it is an ectopic. The pain you’ve described (location etc) and the sense of impending doom was exactly what I had - I never had the shoulder tip pain as a symptom. I hope you are ok.

I had negative tests with mine and only had the shoulder tip pain when ruptured.
