AIBU?
To drive to Windsor now?
BrutusMcDogface · 19/09/2022 13:02
Just that.
We are in Hampshire and it would take about an hour to get there.
I don’t really know why but I feel like going to witness a piece of history.
My 11 year old would come with me.
Posting on AIBU because I want honest answers!
Am I being unreasonable?

🤣 I don't think it's going to take an hour to drive and park
IamSmarticus · 19/09/2022 13:03
YABU, I think you've left it a bit late. Do you think you would get anywhere near now? People have bee there for hours already.
Flyonthewall01 · 19/09/2022 13:05
Well you’ve missed most of it. Is there much point?
Yarboosucks · 19/09/2022 13:05
Depends really if you would be satisfied with an afternoon in Slough. That is a close as you will get now
BrutusMcDogface · 19/09/2022 13:05
Haha, just the kind of responses I wanted! 🤣
apple maps doesn’t show any delays. Yes, I’m very naive!
BrutusMcDogface · 19/09/2022 13:06
If I go at the end of the week, will the flowers still be there?
I really wanted to go on Saturday but was put off by my partner.

'Witness a piece of history'.
They'd have been people lined up there from yesterday. Best witnessing it at home.
BrutusMcDogface · 19/09/2022 13:14
Fair enough. Thanks for the responses.
Does anyone know if the flowers will still be there on Friday? Daft question I know, but any ideas?
ShockedConfused1980 · 19/09/2022 13:16
do you know anyone there already? I’m just thinking where you might park?
Justalittlebitfurther · 19/09/2022 13:19
I would imagine there will still be tributes there for some time OP I went at the weekend and it was really busy so going now would be madness.
TheBitterBoy · 19/09/2022 13:25
There will be nowhere you can park, it's prebooked parking only and it's been booked up days ago.

Well not really, the procession is still in London and the late HRH hasn't been transferred to the hearse for the drive to Windsor yet.
That said, I imagine you are waayyy too late to get there, park and find a suitable vantage point.
doobedooboom · 19/09/2022 13:27
Think you can't drive in now anyway it is closed off to traffic
minsmum · 19/09/2022 13:30
We drove home from holiday yesterday and there were signs on the motorway saying not to go to Windsor if you don't have pre booked parking for today
MrsToothyBitch · 19/09/2022 13:33
YABU. We're Surrey/London border and all the roadside message boards here say not to go to Windsor today unless you've prebooked your parking. They've said it for a few days actually.
You won't get parked, won't see anything and that many people will be hell. Don't do it.
backinthebox · 19/09/2022 13:41
You wouldn’t get anywhere near. I work at Heathrow (not working today) and we’ve been given warning about the number of road closures in the area and huge crowds on public transport.
BrutusMcDogface · 19/09/2022 13:41
We aren’t doing it. Thanks again. I wish I wasn’t so impulsive/last minute! Ah well. Not meant to be but I do think I’ll go at the end of the week.
