AIBU?
To think this teddy doesn't exist anywhere?!

DS has a favourite teddy. It's a green monster.
I'm usually pretty good at finding things on Google/eBay/Amazon, but after almost 2 years of trying weekly I absolutely cannot find a spare for him.
Ours is falling apart, and threadbare.
In all this time I've found one, from an air ambulance charity shop online, but when I contacted them they said it had gone.
It's from Keel toys and I'll attach a photo.
If anyone, anywhere in the country has possibly seen one for sale in a charity shop, jumble sale etc I would be SO SO grateful.
It's his birthday soon and I'd love to surprise him with another!

I also tried to request info on family lowdown and tips Facebook page, as it has thousands of members, but they wouldn't accept the post as it was a wanted post.
If there's any other Facebook pages I could try then please let me know! ❤️

Wow, that must be the fastest conclusion to a thread! Glad you got it sorted.

I feel your pain! My DD'S all time favourite soft toy is a pink rabbit that cost me £2 in Primark when she was a baby. Its falling apart and thread bare now as it has been for about 3 years and the hunt for copies has been painful!! I ended up finding one on ebay Germany and had it sent from there!
itsimpossible · 19/09/2022 08:14
Very odd that the day I finally post on here one comes up on eBay! The amount of time and stress I've spent trying to find one over the years!
Cannot wait for him to see it!!!
We've even had to get knitted clothes for our current one to protect the fur from breaking down any more!

I think there comes a time when you need to decide that the favoured teddy stays at home safe. I think that comes from me losing and grieving for many a favourite when I was little driving my parents mad!! With DS it was also a Keel. A lovely leopard my mum bought him when he was a newborn. He stopped going on outings but was allowed on family holidays. He was definitely not allowed on scout camps where DS was infamous for strewing his belongings far and wide!! I had reservations when DS aged 18 wanted to take him to him new home. His most recent home was 2 years safely perched on a bookcase in the lounge. Now every time DS moves my main concern is have you got Leppy? Are you sure? The answer - yes he’s definitely here somewhere ❤️ For camps etc we nominated those teddies who were still loved but DS (and me!) wouldn’t be so devastated to lose.
Dontfuckingsaycheese · 19/09/2022 08:16
Will he feel the same attachment and love for a replacement though? Unless you go down the whole Tatty Ratty route. Man that story made me cry!!
itsimpossible · 19/09/2022 08:17
Ds is only 5 so hasn't been away overnight unaccompanied yet, but monster is always at home otherwise!
He comes in from school and the first thing he does is get him out of bed for cuddles!
He's been very very loved!!! It's only 3 years old, but looks about 20 years old!
itsimpossible · 19/09/2022 08:18
I'm hoping he'll like it! Was going to tell him it was monsters brother and try to rotate them a bit!
Hope my plan doesn't fail after all of this!!!

Hurrah for a happy ending. For anyone with a similar issue the Preloved to Reloved Free for Postage group on Facebook is good for this sort of thing.
ittakes2 · 19/09/2022 08:28
If you can’t find one buy him something similar and tell him it’s his toys younger brother.

I has that with Bear, bought 2008 for baby daughter.
She is 14, we have 6 bears now sourced from ebay. Bears sister made a star performance one Christmas when she was 4, sourced from ebay. She still says it was her best present ever!

We had this problem with my daughter's rabbit comforter. She lost it and then we had to try high and low to get a replacement. We tried to fool her with a similar one but she noticed the difference immediately! In the end we did get one from ebay plus a spare just in case! She still likes her rabbit at bedtime now even though she's much older.
