So the coffin is protected by armed servicemen who are prepared to die for the honour of the Queen. A man runs at the coffin and grabs at the Royal Standard - and the guards do nothing - the police jumped him.

Am I missing something here?? Who didn't the guards whoop his ass themselves?

The police dealt with it successfully, had they not been there or been unable to contain the threat then the guards would've stepped in.

They look like they're all elderly to me

And in any case I thought the guarding as it were, is a symbolic act rather than actual guarding

Where is the clip of the man doing it and how he was apprehended?

The military should NEVER touch civilians. That’s for the police to do 👌 Only ever a last resort, it’s not a good look and definitely worries people!

I think that the 'Whopping of the Ass Guards' were on a duty break.

Unfortunately the 'Slumped on Swords Guards' were there at the time of the said incident. Sad

As others have said, it'd be very concerning if they did jump in!

LaurieFairyCake · 17/09/2022 20:58

Yes, they can't move as they're on ceremonial duty (and it's the polices job to react here)

But what's INCREDIBLE about it is that they didn't move a muscle. I can't even imagine the training to not react to a threat behind me.

Is there any footage of it online 🤔

To be fair Charles hardly broke off from straightening his cuffs in 94
