Travelodge refusing to return DC’s soft toy that was left in room

Flyflylikeakite · 16/09/2022 22:53

The hotel have told me that DD’s soft toy has been found but have said they can’t post it back to me. I’ve even offered to pay postage and they still say no. It was a Travelodge in London, we live up north in Cheshire so can’t even drive back for it. AIBU to think this is poor customer service from Travelodge? Is there anyway I can try to get this toy back for DD? I’ve been dealing with the hotel directly by phone and email but getting no where.

Hi @LauraTL I’ve just clicked on the link and it’s come up with this (screenshot attached). It says “invalid page”

wTF is wrong with people saying "hotels can't return everyone's phone charger and dressing gown"

it's a child's cuddly toy. Not a bloody phone charger. What Human person could bin no or knowing the kid wanted it back?

Yeah I got this too but just found a contact form on their website so I’ve filled that in instead

Notanotherwindow · 17/09/2022 19:28

Not returning stuff as policy is fair enough but a child's cuddly toy, I'd take home with me and post it myself as an exception. I'm not made of stone!

I8toys · 17/09/2022 19:31

We left Cappy - son's capybara teddy at Luton airport premier Inn. Sent an envelope containing a self addressed postage page envelope to post back. They sent it back. Done.

LauraTL · 17/09/2022 21:00

Yes please, I would like to apologise personally. If you can please get in touch through the link that would be great, just so we can then speak directly.

sawwshaa · 16/09/2022 23:00

Collection only is standard. It would be labour intensive posting lost items and chasing postage payments in a busy airport hotel. And yes it's a teddy but if they offer the service everyone would want their charger returned!

This, nothing more to add.

LauraTL · 17/09/2022 21:05

To confirm, I just have received your ticket, thank you. I will be in touch directly.

Yet chains like Premier Inn do it for everything. Almost like they understand customer service is good marketing. Here we all recommending them over TL.

Unfortunately it might be hotel policy that they don’t do returns. I’m currently in a similar situation with Center Parcs and they are refusing to return an item we left in the lodge!

One more reason to not use horrible corporate style hotels. What kind of policy would that be!!!

UghAsIf · 18/09/2022 23:12

@Flyflylikeakite what did Laura from travelodge have to say?
@Thethreecs going off your username can I assume you also work in a TL? 🤔

That's a very heartless way of looking at things. Don't you ever have scenarios in your life where you have to make simple judgments of importance or priority? Just because everybody might want something, that doesn't mean that the person in charge has to grant it to everybody.

I'm glad the authorities don't think the same way when allowing emergency ambulance and fire engines to pass through red lights, purely on the grounds that everybody else would be wanting to do the same so that they don't miss Coronation Street!

Inklingpot · 19/09/2022 08:17

Seeing as the link that ‘Laura from Travelodge’ helpfully put up isn’t even the correct url for Travelodge, I suspect it’s some kind of phishing scam. Reported.

Eh no, my user name is 3 x C's for the 3 babies names I lost.

I don't work for Travkelodge, I'm Irish living in Ireland and I'm a carer to my disabled dd.

I quoted the 2 posts as this named poster @Fireworksinthenightsky@Fireworksinthenightskyreplied as if answering being the op

Thethreecs · 20/09/2022 07:38

I hit post too soon on that last post, I was saying @Fireworksinthenightsky answered 'laura', saying they had filled out the online form, however the ops name is @Flyflylikeakite

Oh I'm so sorry, coincidentally the travelodge room process is called "The 3 c's" so that's why I assumed.
