Friend ( 10 years younger) wants to go out tonight, we're both single kids much older etc. She still loves the club night gets chatted up, l enjoy it but feel wayyy to old (55, groan- been told l look younger but feel 55!)
Anyhow, it's tonight before HRH funeral weekend and apart from feeling knackered, l think it's disrespectfully
AIBU?

It’s not disrespectful to the queen to go clubbing, no. She’s dead lovely…she won’t know.

SallyWD · 17/09/2022 07:55

Funeral weekend? Seriously?
It's my DH's birthday today and we plan to celebrate and have fun. I doubt the Queen would have wanted everyone to be sombre for days on end.
However it's fine if you don't want to go out because you're tired.

x2boys · 17/09/2022 08:00

Go or don't go but disrespectful, to a 96 year old women you have never met ?
The country has gone mad .

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 17/09/2022 08:01

I'm out tonight it's never even crossed my mind that I should consider the queen's death

Twos0ups · 17/09/2022 11:17

You stick to your principles Op!! I bet you have one to suit every occasion 😀

SpringIntoChaos · 17/09/2022 11:37

I'm 56...I'd definitely, not under ANY circumstances, be going clubbing tonight 🤣🤣🤣 Or on any other night!!! I actually can't imagine why you'd want to OP...so just tell your friend that this is your idea of FUCKING HELL ON EARTH!!! Just own it 👍 I would say those exact words...truthfully, I would! I'm not shy about saying how I feel!

I wouldn't use our dear Queen's funeral as an excuse!! That's disingenuous and will only make it harder the next time you have to find an excuse to get out of going clubbing 🤷‍♀️

Carpy88999 · 17/09/2022 12:06

Yeah I've barely done a thing since last Thursdays. Constantly in a state of mourning for an old lady who died of old age who I don't know.

Thepeopleversuswork · 17/09/2022 12:13

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've read on here. If you don't want to go, own it to your friend. Using the Queen's death as a figleaf is pathetic. What even is a funeral weekend?

Hellodarknessmyoldpal · 17/09/2022 12:24

YANBU to not want to go clubbing.

YABU to use the queen as an excuse. I doubt the royals will mind you having a night out. Just tell your pal you don't want to go.

Womencanlift · 17/09/2022 12:28

If you were a member of the royal family going straight from the vigil at Westminster to a club then you may have a point

But a random person using that as a reason not to go out, I think I have heard it all now and that’s saying something with all
the craziness that’s been around this week

balalake · 17/09/2022 12:29

You are tired. Enough reason.

Hadjab · 17/09/2022 12:32

Mumsnet gets madder by the day - simultaneously a source of irritation and pure entertainment

CatchYouOnTheFlippetyFlop · 17/09/2022 12:35

The whole country is not in mourning 🙄, despite what the media would lead you to believe.

You might be, but personally, I am not in the least bit arsed.

chipsandpeas · 16/09/2022 16:19

what a bullshit excuse

This

Sorrynotsorry22 · 17/09/2022 16:47

Up date- we talked, l told her my views, l told her clubbing doesnt interest me unless thd mood is right.
I owned up said l was knackered and that one night off between 3 x10h nightshifts & another 2 to come wasn't enough to feel up for it.
I promised that post funeral and with some decent kip l would be up for it 😄👍

Good because I heard that Charles would be checking that you stayed in.
