To want to rip my boobs off...

Couldnothappenlater · 16/09/2022 12:38

Posting here for traffic more than anything.
My boobs, or more particularly the skin around them are driving me insane.

There like an intense itch, constantly. I am scratching but it's not doing anything, I feel like I need to take them off and have a good scratch inside.

I've spoke to my GP who said it's just one of those things, take an antihistamine and it'll calm down. Done that, and nothing has changed. It is honestly driving me insane

I get terrible itching under my rather large boobs. I use Sudocrem when it is is really bad, but yes, I too would like to rip them off.

Couldnothappenlater · 16/09/2022 12:56

@Coastalcreeksider i feel your pain. I've tried sudocreme, e45 and it just seems to irritate them more!

I mean, taking them off would make a right mess….

Have you tried putting on moisturiser? Is the skin sore underneath? Do you dry properly? I’m just asking anything that’s popped into my head.

thesparkthatbled · 16/09/2022 12:59

I don't mean to alarm you but my boobs itched terribly when I got breast cancer. I had other changes too which were my main concern at the time. Again, it's probably not that, but I would go back to the GP and ask for referal if I were you. Best to be safe than sorry.

WeightoftheWorld · 16/09/2022 13:00

Have you tried vaseline as a barrier if it's a form of contact dermatitis? I occasionally get this on the underneaths of my boobs which is really common especially for larger breasted ladies. Making sure it's thoroughly dry after a shower and then slapping on loads of vaseline as a barrier quickly sorts it out (and is what my GP recommends too).

Coastalcreeksider · 16/09/2022 13:03

Oh that's interesting about vaseline, it's the one thing I haven't tried. I'll give that a go, anything is worth a try.😀

dancemom · 16/09/2022 13:09

Are you on contraception?

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 16/09/2022 13:10

What age are u. Mine are the same but I’m peri menopausal

Couldnothappenlater · 16/09/2022 13:10

Yeah I definitely dry underneath them properly and all around them. Moisturiser just irritates them more. Wearing bras is becoming soooooo uncomfortable. In work I have to keep rushing to the loo to have an itch. I'm waking up through the night itching them, I'm at my wits end with it

Have you tried some sort of anti fungal cream like Canesten?

Couldnothappenlater · 16/09/2022 13:13

@thesparkthatbled do you mind saying what other symptoms you had as well?

@Paranoidandroidmarvin just turned 50 and definitely peri-menopausal. Been on patches for the last year and a bit. Itching started about a month or so ago I'd say

@dancemom i have a copper coil fitted, so no hormonal contraception

I have no advice I'm afraid, but it made me sad to read that you had been dismissed by your GP.... another woman whose health issue that affects her quality of life is simply categorised as 'one of those things'. Even more sadly, I'm not at all surprised.

PolkaDotMankini · 16/09/2022 13:20

I had this. It turned out that my skin was reacting to my deodorant. I changed deodorant and it cleared up within a few days. The relief was immense.

Couldnothappenlater · 16/09/2022 13:26

@Deliaskis was definitely "dismissed" by GP.

I think I'll make another appointment with a different GP. Will also pop into pharmacy and have a word when on school run later

Another big bosomed lady here- I've had this and found it was actually a fungal infection. I too dry well and clean often but hey ho, these things happen. Daktarin for jock itch worked. Also, washing bras in hot wash, with very mild unscented detergent and hung dry.

abovedecknotbelow · 16/09/2022 13:32

Are you sure it's not fungal?

Couldnothappenlater · 16/09/2022 13:33

How would I know if its fungal?
(excuse the ignorance, I genuinely have no clue lol)

thesparkthatbled · 16/09/2022 13:34

@Couldnothappenlater one of my boobs was changing in size, very slowly getting larger, and I did have a lump, but I hadn't noticed it.

I think the size change was the main reason they were concerned

Couldnothappenlater · 16/09/2022 13:37

@thesparkthatbled thank you for explaining. I hope you're OK now?
Thankfully nothing like that has happened with me. I have checked all around regularky and definitely no lumps x

Couldnothappenlater · 16/09/2022 13:41

OK so just googked fungal infection - gross.
I don't think it's that as most of the itching is at the front and around the sides, not really underneath them, although that does play up now and again. It's mainly around the nipple area but not the actual nipples themselves. It's mad as nowhere else on my skin am I itching.
I've rewashed all my bras, I haven't changed washing powder or done anything different.

I've just smothered them in vaseline in the hope that helps.

Thanks all x

This! My mum had stage 4 breast cancer and this was the start of it. Get properly checked.

BaileySharp · 16/09/2022 13:45

There's a small chance it's inflammatory breast cancer, but hopefully your GP considered that and didn't think it was likely. Its a nasty type of breast cancer to get so hopefully not! A skin issue is more likely

BamBamBilla · 16/09/2022 13:50

I'd try athlete's foot powder. Instinct is to try a cream or moisturiser because its soothing for the itch but getting the area properly clean and dry with something like a talc powder with cooling effect should sooth it for longer.

GingerGloucester · 16/09/2022 14:00

No advice I’m afraid, but I know exactly what you’re talking about! I think I tried everything under the sun and unfortunately just had to wait it out for them to stop :(

Couldnothappenlater · 16/09/2022 14:02

Thank you all, will give all of your suggestions a go, and will definitely ring the GP and make sure I'm checked out x
