To want to rip my boobs off...

Couldnothappenlater · 16/09/2022 12:38

Posting here for traffic more than anything.
My boobs, or more particularly the skin around them are driving me insane.

There like an intense itch, constantly. I am scratching but it's not doing anything, I feel like I need to take them off and have a good scratch inside.

I've spoke to my GP who said it's just one of those things, take an antihistamine and it'll calm down. Done that, and nothing has changed. It is honestly driving me insane

I have psoriasis and it's currently doing exactly the same thing to me. Drives you bloody insane doesn't it? I'm going for tight sports bras to try to help...

Madamecastafiore · 16/09/2022 14:16

Have you tried antihistamines?

Royalbloo · 16/09/2022 14:17

Also try changing shower gel. There's definitely some that make this worse!

KimberleyClark · 16/09/2022 14:20

I had shingles recently and the rash was on the right side of my back and the side of my right boob. Drove me insane.

Upyouranty · 16/09/2022 14:23

Another one saying get a mammogram. I’m currently going through chemo for breast cancer. I had no changes in my breasts but did have itching which I put down to peri menopause.
unfortunately all my symptoms - easily bruising, fatigue and itching I put down to menopause.

It’s probably not be - worth a look ♥️

dottiedodah · 16/09/2022 14:28

Obv check again with a different GP .Hopefully all well .Its not quite the same ,but I had a terrible rash on my neck sore and itchy .Fractionated Coconut Oil has completely cleared it up .About a tenner of Amazon! Every morning and evening

Couldnothappenlater · 16/09/2022 14:30

I had a mammogram about 3 months ago which came back clear, would this mean that it takes care of the concern of breast cancer?

I'm taking antihistamines daily, but not doing any good. I'm currently slathered in vaseline, but I can feel the thickly itching building up. Trying my best to ignore it in the hope it goes away. I'm pretty sure scratching so hard I'm bleeding is not doing any good at all!

I also had shingles recently and it started like this. Drive me totally crazy and felt very sensitive to touch as well.

IroningThrone · 16/09/2022 14:45

I would try some thrush cream. Can't hurt and might help.

NeckFanInSoftPlay · 16/09/2022 15:20

Take Loratadine (you can buy it in pound shop) and buy Eurax cream/gel - absolutely amazzzzzzzing stuff. Relieves itching for 10+ hours

NeckFanInSoftPlay · 16/09/2022 15:27

Loratadine - https://www.amazon.co.uk/CLARITYN-ALLERGY-TABS-14/dp/B01FIEI15I/ref=sr1111moddprimary_new?crid=1GSQZ4LOXYGVQ&keywords=loratadine+tablets&qid=1663338198&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sprefix=Loratadine%2Caps%2C66&sr=8-11
(These are different to other Antihistamines, these are specifically for itching)

Eurax - Amazon are out of stock of both Eurax gel & cream but this also works great and also contains a mild anaesthetic which helps relieve any soreness that may also be there - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lanacane-Medicated-Cream-Tube-30g/dp/B001EJOHTG/ref=sr1116moddprimary_new?crid=2FM4E1M7B5QGU&keywords=Eurax&qid=1663338287&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sprefix=eurax%2Caps%2C84&sr=8-16

One last tip if you've not got anything to hand, if you can get hold of some ice cubes they bring instant relief to itching

Couldnothappenlater · 16/09/2022 16:20

@NeckFanInSoftPlay thank you, thank you, I've just ordered Loratadine.

Spoke to pharmacist who said itching with no rash or redness really needs to be seen by a doctor. So appt made for next Wednesday afternoon x

This sounds exactly like the itching I had. It's been a while but if I remember rightly it was a horrible prickly itch that i just couldn't seem to quite 'get at', like the itch would travel around the area so I never felt like I was quite hitting the spot? I think the skin was visibly red/dry, and it was on top rather than underboob.

I tried all the antihistamine tablets, creams, e45 etc with no improvement. Some of the heavier creams seemed to make it worse for me. Washing powder, shower gel, shampoo etc all ruled out.

It was aveeno daily moisturising lotion that finally solved it for me.

www.boots.com/aveeno-daily-moisturising-lotion-300ml-10097282

(I also checked with the Dr to rule out anything serious)

LampLighter414 · 16/09/2022 20:42

Could be fungal, sweaty underboobs. Men get the same with sweaty scrotum

ClumpingBambooIsALie · 16/09/2022 20:49

I used to get terrible itches in places where fabric was tight and unmoving and the skin sweated. So, bra zone, but also waistband. Solved it by doing extra rinses after the wash cycle and avoiding all fabric softeners. Essentially, trying to avoid any detergent, softener or perfume residues left on clothing — making sure they come out of the washer smelling of nothing, not even that "fresh laundry" scent.

Maybe try an extra rinse and avoiding fabric softener for your bras, and see if that helps?

Couldnothappenlater · 16/09/2022 22:10

@BrainSmog that's exactly, scratch and scratch but it never seems to quite hit the spot to make it go away!
This cream should be arriving off Amazon tomorrow so fingers crossed it works, failing that I'm working my way through the helpful list of suggestions on here

I had this and I have not got a resolution, but it seems to have eased off now. My breasts were so itchy that I scratched them so hard they bruised.

Because I have private healthcare I convinced my DR to refer me to a breast clinic to do a mammogram and an ultrasound- they found nothing.

Catdogmum · 16/09/2022 22:24

I get this from my sports bra when I run. Liquid talc is the only thing that seems to help it. Definitely would get it checked out if topical creams etc don’t fix it.

dworky · 16/09/2022 23:08

I find medicated talc more effective than sudocrem for sweaty areas. If anything fungal, Canesten.

Somethingsnappy · 16/09/2022 23:18

It could be fungal. Normal creams just aggravate because they make it an even more appealing environment. Coconut oil usually clears up similar problems for me within a week or two. It has anti fungal properties.

aloris · 16/09/2022 23:18

I have very small breasts and can feel a lump as small as a centimeter in diameter, which pop up for me as benign cysts periodically. However my doctors have told me that most women, because they have more breast tissue, cannot feel a lump until it is at least an inch in diameter.

Now, I'm not a doctor so your mileage may vary. But just because you can't FEEL a lump, does not necessarily mean a lump isn't in there. You have had a sudden, persistent change in an area restricted to the breasts. I think it's worth checking out a little bit more.

Amarette · 16/09/2022 23:23

If it is fungal you could try washing with an anti-fungal shampoo like Nizoral.

MarigoldPetals · 16/09/2022 23:24

Deliaskis · 16/09/2022 13:18

I have no advice I'm afraid, but it made me sad to read that you had been dismissed by your GP.... another woman whose health issue that affects her quality of life is simply categorised as 'one of those things'. Even more sadly, I'm not at all surprised.

Or maybe there was nothing the GP could do. Sheesh!

marmiteloversunite · 16/09/2022 23:25

I had a very itchy nipple which I was repeatedly told was eczema and given various creams. After 4 years of being dismissed I was diagnosed with Paget's disease and breast cancer. Please go back to your GP and ask to be properly assessed at the breast clinic.

Luredbyapomegranate · 16/09/2022 23:30

It sounds like Intertrigo - have a Google, and then go see your pharmacist.
