My bank has been down all night and all morning until now. Cannot access the app and they aren't able to credit any payments . Cards aren't working either. I literally have no money to buy a darn thing and need bread and baby milk etc
It's 2022 ffs!

Sorry I mean deliveroo!

Travellingwomble · 15/09/2022 17:40

No use to you now but I put £20 in my glasses case bit on ceiling of my car in case I get stuck for petrol or forget my purse. Also have some money in Monzo or Revolut cards in case of emergency.

Yeah, I think you are going to have to ask a friend or neighbour for some cash or walk home and eat a very eclectic tea (which won't harm you, or your children if you have any, for just one day).

It is poor but these things happen. We're so reliant on our cards and phones but it really is best to always know what you are going to do if they aren't working (or get lost/stolen).

I have more than one bank account but also carry some cash (I'm old). I'm oldish and I also do this, I was taught well by my father. Definitely have an emergency £20 on you at all times, more if you have children, buying a tank of fuel, cost of taxis to get anwhere useful from where you are is going to be more, etc. A pound coin as well is also useful. So, £21.

Btw I am not perfect and don't always follow my own advice on this (and occasionally live to regret it).

Why no cash?
Keep your options open.
Always keep some cash in the house.
In fact I prefer to use cash whenever I have the option.

credir card for emergencies and school would feed your kids surely if you explained you couldn’t parent pay. I mean it’s the same if there was an issue with parent pay they would have a back up plan.

EngTech · 15/09/2022 18:06

Just goes to prove that all this Hi-Tech is great, till it falls over 😳

Cash still has its place 👍👍👍

ancientgran · 15/09/2022 18:22

I don't know if it is the same with all schools but with my GSs parent pay he can go into negative, not sure how much but when he moved in with me I didn't have it set up and he had 2 days food without any money in his account. He has paid for friends dinners when they have been so far into negative amounts that they have refused them any more credit. I hope that might help.

Steal it, no court would convict.

I hope they've sorted it for you by tomorrow, OP x It's horrible to not be able to get to your own money.
