I am doing 16/8 fast 7 days a week. No alcohol. water and herbal tea. I do 5x yoga /pilates sessions per week. 2x HIT sessions of 40mins pwr week and 3 runs per week of between 5-10k each. I walk 10k in 2 hours 1x per week. I have 4 kids 10/8/6 and 3 so am running around a fair bit. We eat home cooked soups/curries/chickpeas etc no meat except chicken. I have reduced meal sizes considerably, and dropped my puddings (except fruit and full fat yoghurt with honey or sqyare dark chocolate). I am still the same weight ! Arrrgh! I feel i cant eat much less and function, as i get so grouchy and tired ! I already take vitamins Help!

Weights!! You need weights!!!

Quit the runs.

Keep the HIIT.

gym doing lifting 2-3 times per week. Try the book New Rules of Lifting for Women. Give it 6 months. You’ll look SO different. I lost 2 stone, gained muscle, lost fat.

How heavy are you for your height? Perhaps you are swapping fat for muscle. Are you staying the same weight but your jeans getting looser?

I always find it hard to lose weight this time of year. My body has clocked that it's autumn, that winter is coming and I store fat. In spring, I can lose weight without issue because I swap to salads and sunshine.

Oh and drop 3 of the yoga/Pilates sessions.

You can work the HIIT into your gym sessions so you only have to go to exercise 3 times a week.

jeaux90 · 15/09/2022 12:14

How old are you OP?

Exercise effectiveness depends on age, hormone levels etc

jeaux90 · 15/09/2022 12:15

HIT is not good around menopause for example.

Kettle bells and diet is way more impactful

mynameiscalypso · 15/09/2022 12:20

If you're doing a HIIT session for 40 mins, it's definitely not a HIIT session. Proper HIIT sessions are much shorter in length and there's no way you can do a proper HIIT workout for 40 mins. That said, 100% agree with weights. Far more effective.

I've just gone and bought a copy of this!

Can I ask, what does your programme look like? I'm menopausal and finding it hard to shift weight, I do subscribe to Hasfit but I wonder if I need a fresh approach. Desperate to have nice arms just for once in my life.

@mynameiscalypso is right. 40mins of HIIT is just high intensity cardio which you want to try and avoid.

I follow NRoLfW (not the diet I just try not to eat crap) and at the start of each session I do 10mins HIIT on cross trainer or running machine and then another 8 mins somewhere else inbetween sets of weights on the battle bike which is hideous.

if I’m tired I still go to the gym but cut out the HIIT. That way I don’t miss sessions.

I started 7 years ago - DH told me to try 12 weeks at the gym and said I would fall in love with it. I had always hated exercise before then but I truly did love it!! Then kids etc meant I fell off the wagon for a bit but just restarted again.

after about 6 months I didn’t use the book anymore because I understood what needed training and when and it became more intuitive.

good luck!!

Weights and start counting calories. I found I lost weight faster with slightly more calories with the amount of exercise I was doing and didnt feel like crap.

fishonabicycle · 15/09/2022 12:57

How long have you been eating less?

shouldntbeonhereagain · 15/09/2022 13:27

10 weeks
