Official mourning excuse?

Name changed for this. I'm so annoyed, myself and my colleagues have been going through a difficult period of potential redeployment and in the last few months the Voluntary redundancy option was announced We have had to go through countless 1-2-1 meetings, and fill in forms etc etc. We were given a timescale of how the process would go, with today's date given as when we would receive our offer in writing. All of us this morning have received a very impersonal email saying it would now be delayed due to the official mourning period for the Queen's death. We are all so upset, this is our future lives and most of us are so anxious about the process anyway, and now this!! It feels like a blatant disregard for our feelings, surely an email that we have been expecting for months could have been sent???

Ridiculous. I'd understand if the date you were given was the 19th, but most/if not all of the population have had to work since the Queen passed away.

Bubblebubblebah · 14/09/2022 12:18

They just fucked up and use this aa an excuse

nachoavocado · 14/09/2022 12:19

Ridiculous

girlmom21 · 14/09/2022 12:27

That's shocking.

JudgeRindersMinder · 14/09/2022 12:29

You’re not being unreasonable at all.

I suspect a lot of companies are going to treat the “official morning” period in the same way as “because covid” to treat people like shit.

I, sorry you’re going through this @Maybeno , dh has had similar with his job and it’s a horrific period to go through

Maybeno · 14/09/2022 12:47

Thanks JudgeRindersMinder it has been an awful 6 months, everything a meeting is announced we are all anxious as to what we are going to be told next 😐Firstly we have had the uncertainty of redeployment which was so stressful and now it feels like they are drawing this out needlessly. Can you guess I work for the Civil Service!!!?

I just wanted to say that even civil service is working..

CloudPop · 14/09/2022 13:02

That's shocking. Not surprised you're pissed off.

Maybeno · 14/09/2022 13:46

Yes, exactly its a period of mourning but we are all still working! I found it extra ironic that staff of Clarence House were told they may be facing redundancy in this so called period of mourning!

Any of you in a union? They should be addressing this for you

But you are absolutely right this is no way to treat people

Maybeno · 14/09/2022 14:26

We are all, or at least the majority, in a union. The union found out the same time as us 😧Who knows if they will do anything though?

I do think it's bad form. However I know our HR has been busy organising a staff memorial service for the queen and sorting adding the bank holiday allowance on the system. It's possible they've been busy..?

I am appalled at the Clarence House redundancy notice, surely that shouldn't have come out during the official mourning period.
