Crowd filming the procession

I've watched a bit of the footage on the news of the Queen's coffin in transit. And it feels like everyone in the crowd is recording on their phone. Why? I dont get it. It just seems to be with everything now. Footage of the crowd just shows a sea of phones being held up. Cant people just be there without having to photograph or film it. Is this to prove they were there - pics or it didnt happen?

I find it intensely annoying but cant figure out why! Why should it bother me? I don't know but it really does for some reason

I agree, every damn thing has to be filmed amd photographed instead of just being in the moment. I fund it very annoying

You hit the nail on the head when you said 'pics or it didn't happen'. That's exactly what it is. People have to prove what they've done on social media or it's worth nothing. It's sad, but true.

I view it as a way for future historians to see what happened in the past. The sheer volume of first person content/perspectives will be incredible to look back on in 100+ years time - much like how historians rely on letters/books/poems to find out how people felt when moments of historical significance took place before.

The habit that really pisses me off is the way these insta wankers behave in art galleries. They zoom around the room, click, click, click, at every painting on the wall, not even looking at it. Most of these galleries have hi-res photos of their works available to download too.

You actually miss out on experiences by being preoccupied with your bloody device. But it seems that what's important isn't experiencing something, it's people seeing that you (kind of) experienced something.

It drives me insane too! I rarely take photos so this whole social media photo phenomenon is alien to me and I especially find it disrespectful to take photos of the coffin as it embarks on her majesty’s final journey!

Please just bow your head, clap or weep ( or whatever you feel the need to do in a private moment) just don’t keep clicking
