To think this is chicken pox?

Don't have a clue what I'm looking for with chicken pox, given it a Google and am in two minds whether this is pox or something else? Rash appeared on my 18 month old arms and legs this evening...

Hi op, it’s not very clear on the photos unfortunately. However chicken pox often begins on the chest & back then spreads out onto the arms & legs & has fluid filled spots.

This is what is making me think maybe it isn't pox. I think I will call GP in the morning as I'm starting to worry what else it could be. She's fine in herself though no temperature or cold but did have a temperature over the weekend.

My daughter has similar on her stomach and side. Lasted a day and then faded and didn’t spread. She’s already had pox! So not much help but we had the spots and definitely wasn’t chicken pox!

Always best to check with doctor but mine had quite a few viral rashes when they were younger and they were fine. They also had chicken pox and it didn’t look like that. Doesn’t mean it’s not chicken pox though

Do they disappear under a glass?

My 3 yo has just had chicken pox last month. My 8 year old has never had them however as soon As I saw them I knew. Very distinctive. This is how she started and within 3 days she was covered. She also had a runny nose ? Does your DC have any other symptoms?

It COULD be - especially if you know of it going around which is why you think it. But if it is, I'm sorry to say, it looks like it will be pretty bad. My two had it last winter and the first signs for us were both of just generally being 'off'. For the 1yr old this was even just sleeping more. Then we saw just one spot like this - flat, red, nothing special- that grew over a few days into a clear 'pox'.

DC 1s was on his balls and I thought was just a sore patch from nappies, but it got worse and then I saw another on his stomach the next.

DC2, the same, I saw one red, flat spot on his thigh and then a few more the next day.

But that was just us, they came quite slowly at first.
