To be worried about tonight

last week was my first week back at work after mat leave. Tonight is my time on the out of hours on call rota since I started back. This could involve dealing with calls, emails and investigating complex enquires using my work laptop and my phone for emails. DD isn’t sleeping either, just praying I don’t get a call or email as will struggle to deal with it while getting DD back to sleep, I’m know I’m probably being pathetic but just stressed

Is your partner not there? This is their time to shine if you do get a call….

Does your employer know that you are looking after a young child single handed during shifts?

Trudij123 · 13/09/2022 20:43

Ah. Know that one very very well, I’d be in the same boat if I had a job that involved nights. ( except I wouldn’t because I just can’t!) goOd job you can work from home 🙂 when do you sleep?!
you can only do your best - which will be more than plenty I’m sure, do work know you don’t have childcare so possibly can’t answer things as fast as you’d like to? As long as they are ok with it, take a deep breath and you’ll be fine.

Yes when it’s my turn on the on call rota. The on call doesn’t involve travelling to the office, it can all be dealt with from home. Obviously DD doesn’t come to the office with me when I’m working during the day

It’s an on call rota so not on call every night but then I’m in the office each day Monday to Friday during the day

Good luck tonight! So long as your boss knows about your DD then you are fine, hopefully things will not happen at the same time as you have to attend to your child.

You are not being pathetic to worry, it is natural after being away from work for mat leave.

Bagzzz · 14/09/2022 06:25

Hope the night went well @Grassisgreener5 and you get some rest today if it was busy. Smile

I found it very hard returning from Mat Leave. Hope it all went OK for you. Give yourself time.
