Is Invisalign worth it?

On tray 10/12 on my first round of refinements after the initial 14 trays.

This one hurts like hell and my first tray was in February. I still have whitening and bonding to go.

My teeth look sort of ‘neater’, but I’m apparently nearly at the end and yet to be blown away by any big change.

Have I just been taken in by clever marketing?!

Worth it. 100%.

You'll just need more trays.

Purplecatshopaholic · 12/09/2022 23:17

Totally worth it. Stick with it op.

HintofVintagePink · 12/09/2022 23:20

Attachments are booked to come off at the end of September, so I don’t think I’m getting more trays?

I’m just bored and in pain!!

Here's my before and after.

Which plan are you on? If you've got more tests, not let your dentist fob you off with finishing unless you're 100% happy.

Did you take pictures with the tray minder app? I have 13 more refinements to go, and while I don't think they'll be perfect, the comparison pictures from the start shows what a great change they've had already. It's hard to see the progress week to week.

No not unless you literally use the retainers forever !! I spent over £3000 and my teeth looked ok until I stopped using the braces …so sorry I cannot recommend !

HintofVintagePink · 12/09/2022 23:25

Wow they look amazing! Is that bonding too?

I’m on the Lite treatment and have changed the trays every week.

My top teeth look better, the lower ones not quite so much.

My orthodontist is very good and highly recommended; I am just getting impatient I think!

You have to wear a night time retainer with any type of braces, teeth will try to set back to their 'natural' position otherwise. This should be explained by the dentist before you start treatment, and options such as a fixed wire behind teeth explained.
This is my progress so far - my top teeth were straight, just the arch is getting wider.

So so worth it! I am on tray 7 of 12.. my teeth look so good, had braces 3 times, this is..the best they have ever looked..yes it hurts.. but I can't wait to see the results!

Pettyargument · 14/09/2022 00:19

Completely worth it in my opinion, I hated my teeth before. I don't think wearing a retainer at night is too much hassle either, it doesn't need to be every night

WhatIsThisMad · 14/09/2022 07:04

I've got these horrible metal train tracks on and I hate them. They look ugly, they hurt by rubbing the inside.of my mouth and I can't eat any normal food.

I wish I'd got Invisalign instead but too late now. :(

inmyslippers · 14/09/2022 07:05

I've loved mine. Invisalign lite and whitening for me. Best money I've ever spent

strawberrybush · 14/09/2022 07:13

I am currently two years in. I was told it would take less than a year but I obviously have stubborn teeth! I haven't felt any pain but I hate the feel and look of the attachments, they make my teeth feel dirty, and can't wait until I have finished. The results are good but not life changing, I doubt many people notice really. My teeth weren't terrible though, I just felt a bit self conscious about one in particularly which was being pushed up.

Sussex34 · 14/09/2022 07:36

@Purpleavocado That progress is amazing - did you manage to achieve that without any extractions? I have a similar overlap with my bottom teeth. Sorry to hijack thread! 😂

Purpleavocado · 14/09/2022 08:27

No extractions, but a lot of IPR which is where they file a tiny bit off the side of each tooth. It doesn't hurt at all. I should be done by Xmas, I'll get whitening towards the end, possibly some gum contouring and I'll get some of my top teeth bonded to even things out.

TripleB32 · 27/09/2022 20:39

I'm also considering Invisalign and had a consultation a few days ago. I've been quoted £4750 with 4 extractions. Or £4250 with no extractions and just filing.
He kind of left it up to me to decide saying he'd recommend the extraction option, but the other would also get good results.......
Any advice on extraction vs non extraction would be greatly appreciated!

My colleague has just finished hers. Her teeth that were a bit crooked before. (Not that we'd ever noticed) look amazing and she's far more confident. And actually smiles in photos rather than cats bum faces that she use to do.
